Dexter and Lynn looked up at the doctor with straight faces. They were curious about the news he had that he was so happy about.
"I've looked up your analysis. They're all good, Dexter. You'll be able to leave in an hour starting from now since everything went well."
Suddenly, Dexter's face brightened as he listened to the doctor. He didn't stood there only for four hours and he was already bored. He wanted to go home.
"If I may ask, what happened to him?" Lynn asked the doctor, also wanting to know the mere reason why was Dexter brought to the hospital.
"Dexter's sudden faint was because of tiredness... That's the only reason and nothing else... All I can do is to give you some advices. Sleep well, rest and drink water, Dexter. I can't do anything else but to say these things to you."
Dexter's face was full of smiles now and it somehow made Lynn smile a bit too. Lynn... To smile... To smile like a happy normal person... That's a hard thing to believe.
Lynn looked back at the doctor that waited for either of them to say something. Lynn opened his mouth but Dexter spoke first: "Thank you, doctor. Very much."
"No problem. It was my pleasure to help. Let me take this away." the doctor came to the infusion and took it out. He then left the two in peace in the room.
Dexter was still smiling. He was happy for leaving the hospital, he was happy for Lynn's presence, but it also annoyed him to hell. He didn't knew what to feel.
"I'll stay with you until they leave you go. I'll bring you home, alright?" Lynn whispered softly.
"B-but... Don't you have work to do? You said you were coming from a meeting. What about it?"
"It doesn't matter now. Probably it ended since some time ago... It isn't more important than you are. And if it was, I wouldn't leave the meeting to come and see you, right?"
Dexter was surprised by how sincere Lynn's voice and tone was. He was honest... his words were real... he was feeling that... Lynn thought of him as an important person? That touched Dexter's heart a bit.
"I-I... Thanks..." that's all Dexter could bring out of his mouth.
"Hm? Thanks? For what?"
"For... For... The fact that I'm important to you... For the fact that you left an important meeting for you to see me."
Dexter's eyes got a bit wet, but he immediately wiped off his tears before Lynn could see. Why was he crying for? Why was he so emotionally weak?
Lynn didn't said anything. He got up and went at the window. Dexter's eyes were following him as he was walking there with his hands in his pockets. Dexter wanted to get up to go there too, but his legs were weak.
Lynn leaned against the wall next to the window while looking straight at Dexter. His gaze was fixed on him. Lynn wanted so much to say it... so much... but his mind and mouth wouldn't leave him bring those words out.
"No need to thank me... You really are important to me, after all... It's unbelievable for me too. " Lynn spoke.
Between the two had fallen a deep silence. No one was moving, the only sounds in the background were the sounds of birds chirping, the car's engine and the doctors walking on the hallway desperate to go to some rooms and back into the cabinet.
It was a calm and peaceful atmosphere between Dexter and Lynn, but it was a panicked and stressed one out of their atmosphere. The toxic air around the two of them.
Lynn sighed and cleaned his throat to not seem embarrassed by the situation. "So, what happened to you after I dropped you off at the café?"
Dexter looked at the ground and then back at Lynn. "Well, I started to work and not long after it, I felt dizzy again, but worse than in the morning. I felt like I could pass out any moment. I placed my hands on Connor and I tried to speak as he asked me what was wrong, but I immediately saw black and I don't know what happened after. I woke up in an ambulance and Connor was by my side. He came with me here and then he had to leave. Soon after he left, you came."
Lynn looked at Dexter while he was telling his short story. He felt guilty now.
"I should've let you to my house... I shouldn't have brought you here... It's my fault."
Dexter's eyes met Lynn's. "Your fault? What do you mean? It isn't your fault. I wanted you to bring me here though. I insisted on it. It's not your fault, truly."
Lynn smiled for himself at Dexter's kind words, but he still felt a bit of guilt inside him.
Lynn started walking to Dexter who was still sitting on the bed. He stood in front of him and took his face in his big hands, making Dexter face him.
Dexter's eyes flickered as he was intimidated by Lynn's gaze. He stood like that and admired Dexter's eyes some more before leaning towards his face and pressing his lips against his.
Dexter's eyes widened at the sudden move, but he didn't pulled away. He was liking it. Lynn let his tongue slip into Dexter's mouth, exploring it.
Dexter was at Lynn's mercy, so he couldn't resist. He let him do whatever he wanted, as he was just standing and enjoying the feelings Lynn brought him.
After some seconds, Lynn pulled away. He looked deeply inside Dexter's eyes, like he tried to read his mind, but it was pretty obvious they were thinking at the same thing, but their mouths wouldn't want to admit it and say it loud.
"The next time you come at me, I'll show you something... I didn't show it to anyone, not even Paul... So, you should consider yourself lucky that I'll let you see it."
Dexter thought of what could Lynn have to be that important to him. Maybe a ring? Maybe something antique from the Middle Ages? Who knows?
Dexter showed a smile and then he leaned on the bed, closing his eyes. Lynn watched him falling asleep as he got up again and went to the window. He only now understood the only word he wasn't able to. He found its meaning right here. And soon enough, he would understand it better.
Captivity.
