chapter V

the next day, Izzy arrived at her boss's house, she just couldn't believe how big the house is, the gate alone was massive. she rings the bell and the side gate opens, she guess he was already waiting for her seeing that he didn't ask who it was. she walks in and realised the house was bigger than she thought. the front door is open so she walks in and was greeted by a lady in a maids uniform.

hello, come in, Mr Matthews is waiting for you.

Izzy followed the lady to the living room. the interior design alone is enough to make her swoon but she composed herself and took a seat on the soft peach colour sofa in the living room

what would you like to drink? as the lady in the maid uniform

water, water is fine said Izzy

I made some freshly squeezed pineapple juice, I heard juice is good for pregnant women, would you like to have some? asked the lady with a warm smile

Izzy couldn't help but be shy, the lady already knows she is pregnant. if the ground could open up and swallow her right there she would be so grateful to mother nature. she knows she need to get use to people addressing her as pregnant woman if she is going to keep this baby.

the juice would be nice, thank you. said Izzy. and the lady walks away happy, why she is happy, Izzy do not know. few minutes later the lady brought the juice and a glass cup and place it in front of her and said

I will be in the kitchen, if you need more just call me.

Oliver came into the room few minutes later. he was wearing a black tee shirt and white sweatpants. she has to admit he looks good in sweatpants.she mentally slapped herself knowing now is not the time to admire her boss, now is the time to show him that she isn't a pushover.

you are late, I thought you said you hate lateness. she said

I do and I am not late, I just gave you a little time to settle in. how do you like this house? he asked staring at her

it's ok. she said even though in her head she is screaming this house is amazing.

just ok. he asked with raised brows

yes, just ok.

this is where you will be staying from now on. he said nonchalantly

excuse me?

you don't get it, do you? he asked crossing his legs as relaxes into his chair comfortably.

I can't stay here, no way. an unmarried woman living together with a man, what will people say.

this is the twenty-first century miss Monro, no one cares anymore

but I do care. she said with boldness

you are carrying the heir to the Matthews fortune, you can't live anywhere else. he said

I don't want to leave with you. she said looking at him

why is that? he asked with a smirk

are you really asking me that? you blackmailed me remember?

it wasn't blackmail, it is just good old negotiation

but...

listen, this is the only place I can make sure that the baby is safe and Jain is here to look after you, am not always around so you won't see me all the time. I won't be an inconvenience to you. he said making his point.

has anyone ever told you it is not nice to cut people off when they are speaking. she said staring at him.

not really. he chuckled

well, it is not nice. she said

life isn't nice miss Monro but we are living it.

she said nothing but rolled her eyes.

so as you see in the contract, when you sign, you will receive two million and when you put to birth another two million, like I said yesterday the prices are negotiable.

I don't want your money she said.

two million before and after then. moving on anything you will like to change in the contract? he asked

no, she replied

good, then sign he said as she looked at the contract in her hands

you promise not to do anything to my family right?

I don't know what you think of me miss Monro but am not a thug, am a man of my word.

ok, I will pay you back, the money you paid for my father's debt little by little she said

you don't have to. giving birth to a healthy baby is payment enough

what about my work?

you are going to quit of course

so I will lose my job. she asked

no, you will put on administrative leave. he said looking at her.

fine. she said as she signs the contract, hoping and praying that she is not making the worst mistake of her life.
