Pull Yourself Together

Erin spent the next twenty-four hours as a troubled mess, she was so on edge that the staff had gathered in the kitchen to discuss what was wrong with her.

"She hasn't eaten all day," whispered the cook.

"I guess she has received some bad news, she hasn't stopped crying since yesterday." said the maid.

Erin entered the kitchen and saw the staff huddled together, "YOU ARE DISMISSED!" she yelled.

They rushed out of the kitchen leaving the penthouse in a hurry, some forgetting to wear their jackets.

Erin walked over to the huge stainless steel fridge and opened one of the double doors. Her hand trembled as she reached for a glass jug of water.

She took the jug with both hands, cold to the touch and foggy with condensation. Her hands shook with jittery nerves and the container slipped from her, smashing onto the tiled floor in a huge puddle of icy water and broken glass.

She stood barefoot in the center of the mess and weeped tears of desperation.
