Why Should I Wait?

June walked through the green, freshly-cut university grounds, holding her bag close to her body and wasting some time till her next class.

She stopped at a stone monument and sat down on a bench admiring the tall figure, made of gray granite. It was a statue of the founder of the institution, erected over a hundred years ago.

The strong jaw and blank eyes emitted wisdom and success; holding a book in one hand and a set of scales in the other, and at the foot of the stone man lay an inscription. Carved into the stone were the words,

'Improvidus, apto quod victum'

"Inspiring isn't it?" said a voice from behind her.

She turned to see Professor Hao standing admiring the statue, with his hands in his tight brown suit pants' pockets, and he wore a smart powder blue shirt with a sapphire blue tie.

"Yes..it is, but what does it mean?" she asked pointing to the Latin message.
