June and her mother Mia sat in the main living-area of the Jiang Mansion.

Since the sale of the Shanghai Jiang hotel, Mia had began to receive a regular flow of income from the overseas branch.

With no board or employees to pay salaries, Mia found herself slowly coming back into money again.

She returned the staff in the mansion, and began to make plans to redecorate and refurbish the home.

June sat on the floor on a silk woven carpet, reading a book for an assignment. Her long hair was damp from her bath, and she wore a pair of white cotton pyjamas with black buttons.

She lay down on her back beside the warm, crackling fireplace enjoying the heat and wriggled her cold toes to warm them up.

Mia lounged on the green satin sofa after having a three-course dinner, her eyes started to close as she listened to the gentle ticking of the antique grandfather clock.
