53 Meet Me at the Airport

"What if she doesn't come?" Julie Zheng asked her father.

"We'll wait another five minutes." William answered checking the time on his watch.

He paced back and forth with three tickets in his hand.

8:05 PM

She should be here, he thought.

"She's not coming," said Wendy Zheng sitting cross-legged in the airport lounge.

"Just go now Will. Before you're too late and I'll take Julie back with me."

"Noo! Please dad! No!!" Julie begged him.

She jumped up and down and stomped her shiny black shoes on the polished floors. "You promised! You said this time was different!"

Her face began to redden and she kicked her pink suitcase defiantly.

The other travelers in the first class lounge began to stare and whisper.

Will got down on one knee and took his daughter firmly by both hands.

"Listen to me Julie. You have to control this temper of yours, I will be back soon I promise. Have I ever left you before and broken my promise? Don't I always come back and bring you the best gifts?"
