123 Old Money

The next day William arranged for a car to take him to the funeral home. On the way he intended to drop off Julie at his family home to spend the day with his sister.

Lina was intrigued when the car left the city and passed the affluent suburbs. They passed a vast stretch of land, full of rows of identical but beautiful homes.

"That land is completely owned by the Zheng family," William explained to Lina.

She nodded, partly speechless when the stretch of land seemed to go on forever.

They arrived at a private estate, in the outskirts of the city. It was clearly inherited from past generations as the old stone mansion stood large and proud, covered in winding vines and was surrounded by vast green empty land.

Some of the plants and hedges were over-grown and a huge ornate stone arch covered in moss stood at the gate of the estate, guarding the home with a secure electric gate and two security guards sat in a small outdoor hut.

"This is your home?" Lina asked wide-eyed.
