Spontaneously, Cynthia dropped a pile of documents on Alvin's desk with a gloomy face.
" Have you seen the papers? Alvin's eyes darted to the documents on the desk and pushed it closer to himself to take a look at it then closed it.
" So? He bellowed typing on his computer
" We've lost most of our contractors to the Wilson industries. When will you learn? He met her eyes with no emotion
" It's not the first time it's happening. I'm not bothered by it "
She took out a newspaper and dropped it roughly on his desk " maybe this might help" his eyes dilated the moment he saw it.
" Where did you find this? He snapped holding tightly to it.
" He's back for your information. It's time you take this seriously cos I've done all that I could. It's up to you" Alvin crushed the paper into a ball.
Then he recalled seeing Kate days ago. If David was back, it simply means she has. His heart quickened thus he managed to calm down. What are the chances that she might show at his doorstep but agreed he has moved out?
" I will take care of it. You have to attack the meeting this time. I'm going to see my son" Cynthia frowned. She was ready to do anything for him yet he doesn't appreciate her.
" Fine. Alvin, have you thought about us? It's time you move on. That bitch isn't coming back. I'm ready to take Quinn as my son. You know I would" Alvin leaned on the chair with lingering eyes.
" Don't tell me it's because of Naomi? She's a nobody. A friend to the woman that broke your heart. Do you seriously prefer her to me? I work hard every day to make sure you don't lose your wealth. Something you've worked hard for" Alvin sighed softening his eyes.
" I didn't say that. I told you that I don't need anyone for my son. Should I need one, Quinn will have to choose and if Naomi is who he chose then so be it" he spoke relentlessly.
" She'll become his mother, not my wife. I don't need a wife Cynthia" he finished as she hummed.
" Okay. What are you going to do about David? She asked letting go of the topic.
" Get started. If David is back it means my so-called wife is as well. She's here for the divorce. It's time we settle our differences" Cynthia's face fell realizing should stand no chance should Alvin rekindle his relationship with Kate.
" Kate? As in Kate Patterson, your ex-wife? Alvin hummed standing up to leave.
" She's back? She asked herself rather than him.
" After four years? What does she want? He narrowed his eyes at her.
" Divorce. She's still my wife nevertheless. I guess she is tired of whoring around with David. She finally has the guts to face me. That whore"
" Hmm. you'll divorce her, right? You feel nothing for her right? She murmured locking her gaze with him.
" Cynthia, Kate is a mistake I don't want to talk about. Loving her was a terrible mistake. I don't want to talk about her ever again. She's history. Quinn keeps me going" he replied
" Fine. I'll hold you to your words" she shrugged taking his seat.
" I'm expecting the details of your meeting" she frowned watching him leave.
Kate stood by the balcony with a glass on her hands peering into the bustling city and sighed wondering what her life would have become had she ran away with Dante then looked down in grief muttering his name: Dante, someone that sacrificed his life for her.
A man that loved her with every fiber in his body. A man that saved a baby he didn't beget. A selfless man.
She gulped the whole bottle with the memories of her dead son and whimpered. With Simon's death, Dante died for nothing. His sacrifice was in vain because of Alvin Reagan.
He ruined her life especially Dante's. She couldn't help but think her revenge was meaningless if he was to live.
How can one kill an innocent baby? His child? She had tried to imagine it.
Yes, she ran away from him, yes she cheated but why did her son have to pay for it? An innocent soul. She groaned clenching her fist.
She will not rest until Alvin Reagan pays for everything. Whatever David wanted, she will grant it as long as it involves Alvin.
