Chapter 34

The seer

***

I saw what would happen nineteen years ago, about the curse that would be born in the moonlight pack. The curse that would kill wolves and bring disaster to the land of the moon, that’s why I told them that the child must be killed and ever spared. Killed by her mate or she would end up killing him if she escaped death at birth.

But then.

Fate lies in their hands.

Every step, and every decision they take affected their destiny.

Same me who said she must be killed saved her that night she was dropped by her father at Novak forest.

Though her life was so full of darkness, I saw a glint of light in there. And baby wanted to live. And I looked beyond everything.

The moonlight pack, moved on after months had passed, they forgot about Zyair, and their dead leader, Sean was ruling the pack members he had become the alpha, even when he knew he wasn’t truly the Alpha, but nothing could stop it from happening and everyone recognizes him as one besides he had the Alpha blood in him too. He was the alpha son after all. He couldn’t restore peace as he had thought he would become after some time, some of the wolves in the pack would be found dead the next morning. There would be no trace of sickness or anything.

He had become frustrated and was accused by cartel that he was the reason all that was happening, that he had sent Zyair their brother away and had him killed and had their father killed. Because he knew Zyair would never kill their father, he didn’t hate him like they thought he would even after they had poisoned his thought about him, he was still their brother and he won’t be blamed for their mother’s death. He was the unfortunate one, that was what he was and he doesn’t need to be treated like that even if he was more popular and powerful than them.

But his other two brothers, Sean and Jason don’t even want to hear of it.

Because of the death in the pack, he had to summon the old seer, who was very stricken in age, his bears had all gone white and long, and he was bent and walked with the help of a stick. It was hard to get to him, and not easily found since he had to keep safe and do the meditation he normally does each time. Even if they all knew the particular place that he stays that doesn’t mean they would find him there. Slowly he approached the alpha, Sean.

The two other brothers were seated. It was just them and there was no outsider, no Beta, no Gemma. Just them. Like they were having a family meeting.

Sean doesn’t trust anyone, maybe that was why nobody trusts him as well.

He was seated on the alpha’s seat. And had his gaze fixed on the old man as he was coming toward them. He was unsettled in his seat, and he rubbed his hands nervously together. He doesn’t want to hear the news that he was the cause of what was happening to the pack members.

“You called me alpha..” He brought his head down in submission, he was the alpha and he would show him the respect that he deserves.

His voice wasn’t shaky, as Sean had thought it would be because he was old, and his voice was different. It was still strong and speaks as if it was a man like him that was talking.

“Monkey..”

that was his name or rather what they called him.

“Alpha.” He answered.

“You must know why I send for you.”

“Shouldn’t you at least offer him a seat..”

“It won’t be bad if you stand up and let him a seat, Cartel.”

What Sean’s problem was, he had no idea, he stood up so the old man could sit and took the other seat that was far from them, but he could at least hear what they have to say.

“Two wolves died this morning, I’m sure you know. You can see everything. And I won’t say much. I want you to tell me the cause of it.”

The old man sighed.

“Nineteen years ago, you could probably remember. Zyair the young Master was asked to kill everyone child that was born that night...”

“The curse.”

The seer nodded.

Sean remembers he was twelve years old when it happened. The prophecy of the curse that would bring disaster to the land and a threat to wolves. He remembered vividly that zyair had walked out of the house with a sword.

“That’s it. She wasn’t killed.”

“Even when she went into the Sona, the beast there didn’t kill her?”

They had had the same case, four years back and that was why they had gone into the Novak forest to kill her.

“Seems she survived it,” Jason replied.

Now his doubt has been confirmed. She was indeed alive.

“Where would she be now?”

“I don’t know, she’s far from moonlight pack.”

“How come she’s still affecting us.”

“Because she’s alive. And she’s from moon pack, that’s why it would continue to affect everyone here.” He explained.

“Then, we’ve to find her, and kill her.”

“What?” Cartel yelled. Standing up from where he was seated.

“Shouldn’t there be another alternative, and you didn’t even want to find out, why she was a curse, why was our land Cursed, what happened, and if there would be any way to end it without anyone getting hurt!”

“Who cares, the only alternative we’ve is to have her killed.”

“I can’t believe this!” He stamped his feet.

“He doesn’t know what happened does he?” He turned his gaze to the seer who looked away.

“I would announce it to the wolves and we would carry out a special squad that would find her everywhere she’s and kill her. That would be what would end the curse since Zyair failed at first. And then the parents, I’ll find them and kill them as well.”

“Why are you so cruel?”

“How I’m that cruel, what do you know about being cruel?”

“I’ve seen enough to know, you killed father, Zyair too after you framed him for father’s death and now you’re going after the girl and her parents. You..”

“That’s enough Cartel.” Jason came and stood in front of Cartel.

“It seems you want to join him. I might as well disowned you as my brother. You know it won’t be good if I do.”

“Fuck you.”

He glared at him and walked out of the room.

The seer stare at the other brother as he walked away. He could see, that he was promising and was unlike his brothers. He would one day find happiness.

Sean stood up from his seat.

“We’ve to find the killer wolf. And put an end to this.”

Zyair pov

My eyes open slowly and were a little blurry. Until it opened fully. My throat was dried and I needed to drink some water. My eyes opened fully and I saw Creamy. Always the first person I see each time and he was always with me. I coughed.

He hurried up to get the glass that was by the table and gave it to me and helped me to sit well, without hurting myself. It was then I remembered I was stabbed. The thought only was depressing and I didn’t want to think about it.

I had gone up in a bright mood because I wanted to spend some time with her and get to know her a little bit. That had been the reason I had gone there but I had only got disappointment and encountered something I never thought I would.

“You’re awake? How you’re Zyair?”

“Where’s she?”

“Escape.”

Creamy answered and helped me with the water and I drank from it. I did feel better.

“Why didn’t Franco get her?”

“I didn’t know. He didn’t go after her, said you’re our priority and we needed to take you home and get you treated. Glad you’re awake.”

“How long I’ve been here?”

“Three days.”

“Three days?”

“Yes, it was really scary the first night, the stab wound was pretty deep. What if we hadn’t come with you that night. It would’ve been worse than this.”

“I didn’t know she would do that. My thoughts weren’t solely on something else.”

Her face, her smile. He had got distracted by it and he thought she wouldn’t do anything and he wasn’t even prepared. It was his fault, max had been excited too when he had gotten close to her, who knew that was what she had in mind.

But now, he won’t be treated that way again.

“Tell Franco, we would start searching for her.”

“You’ve to be strong enough.”

“I’ll be fine. Tell him that we would find her everywhere for her and once we found her, we would treat her the way she wants to be treated.”

I drank from the water again and hand over the glass to him.

“Tell Franco that.”

And then I lay back to rest. I was done, that was what I wanted to tell him. I close my eyes, and the eyes that I saw were her green eyes as she stare at me, it was burning, the kind of gaze I don’t even know where or how it was.

“I’m glad you’re awake now. Who knows she would do that, she so much wanted to leave here in the first place.”

“She despite me that much.”

“You still want to find her?”

“More than ever, she should at least feel the pains she made me go through.”

“You’re gonna hurt her?”

He wasn’t sure what to do, he just had to see her first, since it had been three days she was probably somewhere far from the pack and into the woods.

That’s where he’s gonna start searching and when he would get her.

She should know, that he would never let her go ever again. He wasn’t careful then but not anymore she was his mate and she better not think of rejecting him because he can’t accept it, he won’t be rejected by her.
