CLARA

Alicia comforted me, and my head rested on her chest as she sat close to me. I let my tears flow freely and she remained silent, to allow me to vent out. I was happy that a chance had been offered to me to escape but I was equally afraid of what would happen to me if I was caught. The Alpha would have me killed no doubt. I remained on Alicia's chest for what looked like an eternity until she held my head and said,

“Let me clean your wounds, I know the Alpha and Nick have been extremely rough on you this time. Also I can smell the wolves-bane in this room," and started to take bandages, ointment, rubbing alcohol, and towel out of her bag. I hated the fact that I was going to leave her, I'd miss her.

She cleaned all my wounds, which caused immense stinging, but I knew Alicia was just trying to help me. She put ointment on my wounds before wrapping them with the bandages she brought. I knew when I shifted into my wolf that the bandages are going to rip, and the pain would be immense.

"Thank you Alicia, I'm really grateful for everything you have done for me," I said, giving her hand a faint squeeze.

"Oh sweetie you are more than welcome. You never have deserved the treatment you were given once the Alpha took you in" she said and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"Goodbye Ever, I hope to see you sometime in the near future," she said sadly and walked away.

"Goodbye Alicia," I whispered when she was already gone, sadness washing over me.

I don't know how long I was sitting all alone in the basement. The seconds blurred into minutes, the minutes blurred hours, but it all looked like eternity. A guard I had never seen came down the stairs. He looked to be in his mid twenties. He walked up to me and pulled something out of his back pocket. I flinched thinking he was about to hit me, when he knelt down in front of me.

"Don't worry, I am not going to hit you. I was sent by Beta Charles to lead you to the border," he said as he unlocked my hand cuffs.

He extended his hand and helped me stand. "Just don't say a word. I'll do the talking," he said.

"By the way my name is Gareth."

When we reached the top of the stairs we began to make our way towards the front doors. There were guards posted at the front doors.

"The Alpha ordered me to take this girl to the dungeons," Gareth said before the guards could even say a word. They nodded and allowed us to pass.

He led me in the direction of the dungeons before passing right by them. He then turned and shifted into a huge light brown wolf not minding that his uniform was now ripped. He crouched down and gestured for me to climb on. I cautiously climbed on and gripped the scruff of his neck. We traveled fast and made to the borders in no time. He allows me to come down and I couldn't believe I was now free.

"Thank you," I said through the pack link.

"You are welcome, now go," he nudged me gently in the side. I watch his face as it gets immersed in emotions, mainly feeling sorry and pitiful for me. “You are on your own now. May the moon goddess protect you." I read his mind.

I smiled gratefully to him as he began to run away then I walked across the border, feeling free from the torture and torment they had caused me. I prayed that all the bitter memories would remain back there.

"You ready Amy," I asked my wolf.

"Hell yes," she replied and I felt myself shift.

Once my paws hit the ground I took off never looking back.
