CLIVE

My life had never been the same since my mate was killed many years ago when we were still children. We loved each other so much and we had big plans for the future. But then something very bad happened and she was killed and her body was never found, we weren't even given a chance to accord her a proper burial.

I grew up to become the Alpha of our pack and we're doing just fine, I only wished she was here with me. I thought about her every day, even on this particular day as I prepared to leave on a journey.

"Amos, please make sure things don't go wrong when I am gone. I trust you to keep it up and running for the next few days," I said to my Beta teasingly.

Amos knew I was joking because even though he was one of the most immature werewolves on the planet he would become one of the most mature when I was gone and he needed to take care of the pack. Both of us came from very far, friends since childhood.

"Yeah, yeah whatever Clive, you know that I'll make the pack fall apart the first hour you are gone," he said sarcastically and punched my arm.

"Okay, okay to be serious. If any rogues wonder into our territory, take them to the dungeon. Make sure they have enough food and water. I will talk to them when I get back. And if any are badly injured, let the Doctor see them," I said as I adjusted my suit.

"I know, I know. You've given me this speech every time you left," he said and leaned his broad shoulders against my door frame.

"I give you this speech every time because it seems that every time I tell you that it goes in one ear and out the other." I said, adjusting my tie.

"Alright Alpha, I will keep the pack up and running, for the most part," he whispered the last part, trying not to let me hear it.

"I heard that," I yelled after him.

He turned and saluted me, before walking towards the game room. I just laughed, grabbed my father's old briefcase and walked out the door. I would be away for some days.

CLARA

Running was rather difficult with a silver collar burning my neck. The collar was tight making it hard to breathe. It hurt to breathe too heavily, and Amy was beginning to whimper from the nonstop pain emitting from the body. Amy was a tough wolf, one of the toughest I know, but after days of us being in immense pain and her trying to heal my body it was beginning to tire her out and with us been running for hours, she was about to pass out.

"Amy, I know you need a break, let's just stop," I said to her.

"No, no I'm alright, we have to get further," she protested.

However, I felt her pressing against my mental barrier, but she was weak and not able to break it. I walked through the forest, the huge trees, beautiful and giving off a scent that was calming. I breathed in and sat against the trunk of a big Cypress tree.

With my back against the tree, I winced at the whip wounds still on my back. The bandages that Alicia gave me were no more, but the stupid silver collar stayed intact and now my neck was all burnt to a wound like my wrist. From my position I could hear a stream nearby and I slowly walked in the direction. I saw it, the clear water, running over smooth rocks and I suddenly remembered that I was thirsty, and hungry.

I made it to the stream and knelt down. I splashed my face with the cool water and cupped some in my hands taking slow sips. I splashed more on my neck and wrists trying to soothe the burns and it worked for a little while. I looked around and saw berries here and there. My stomach grumbled, I was very hungry.

I went over and picked a few. I looked at them and popped them into my mouth, one at a time. When I was younger my parents would take me camping almost every weekend and they taught me all sorts of survival skills. Wild berries, I was taught, were good source of food.

The air grew chilly as the sun started to set. I shifted into my wolf form, still in control. Amy must have fallen asleep because I let my barrier down and she didn't try to bother me. I tucked myself against a fallen tree, shielding myself from the wind. Looking up at the sky and seeing the sparkling stars, I curled into a ball and closed my eyes, then fell asleep within minutes.

"Clara, get up, we have to go. There are rogues nearby I can sense them. We need to leave!!" I heard Amy say frantically.

"Amy, calm down. Let's just sneak away quietly," I answered back and let her take control.

My front legs were weakened from the burns and the stress of running for hours the day before. Amy almost collapsed, but she continued to walk slowly, crouching down. I heard paws hitting the ground and told Amy to run. We ran, only to hear snarls behind. I turned around, and saw about four or five rogues running behind me, chasing, closing up on me.

My front legs collapsed and i fell to the ground. The first rogue took a bite on my leg causing me to yelp, the other rogues jumped on me, biting anywhere they could. One tried to bite my neck only to be burnt by the silver collar. It yelped and backed away and the others followed suit.

I took the opportunity to bolt. They chased me again, but I got the better of them.

I ran and ran, begging that my legs do not give out again. The bites that littered my body were bleeding badly. Suddenly I felt that I entered another pack's territory and I knew my pursuers wouldn't follow me into it, but I knew I needed to make it out of the territory before the pack even knew I was there. I could see the rogues some distance away.

I ran until the rogues were no longer in sight, then slowed down, but continued to walk. My legs giving out every once in a while.

A growl sounded out from behind me and I turned to see three wolves. Oh no.

"Why have you trespassed on Cliveland Pack territory?" I heard one of the wolves say into my mind. The voice held power, but he wasn't the Alpha. He was either the Beta or the Gamma. Wait... Cliveland Pack, oh no. This pack was known to be the most feared pack, because of what they did to packs who tried to ambush them. I was in trouble.

"I am sorry I did not mean to trespass on your territory, I was running from some other rogues," I said lowering my head and showing my neck in submission. I whimpered as the silver collar rubbed against my neck.

"What pack are you from?" The same voice asked.

"Riverine pack," I said, still not looking.

"Come with me, we will take you to the Beta in order to see what will happen to you," I guessed what the Gamma was saying .

A white wolf and a black wolf came on either side of me and growled for me to walk. I followed the Gamma, my head down, whimpering once in a while, at the bite marks and my other wounds. We reached their pack house and it was bigger then I thought. It must hold more than just the Alpha and Beta like the Riverine pack house did, I thought. The wolves shifted and grabbed clothes out of closets next to the stairs leading up to the pack house.

A man with black hair, walked up the stairs and knocked on the door. After a few seconds a man around my age answered the door. He had dark chocolate hair like mine and blue eyes. From the way the Gamma bowed his head before speaking in a hushed tone, I guessed he was the Beta. He looked at me before nodding and walking down the stairs.

"Hello there. I am Beta Amos, my Gamma tells me you seem to be badly injured. We can help you, I just need you to shift back and we can bring you to the pack doctor," he said as he reached over and grabbed a long shirt and held it out to me.

"Could you maybe turn around please?" I asked.

"Oh, of course where are my manners?" he said and turned around.

I shifted and quickly put the shirt on, then coughed, signalling I was done and he turned around.

"You are really injured let's get you to the pack doctor," he said and reached out for me. I shied away from his hand. He gave me an apologetic look and told me to follow him before dismissing the Gamma and the two other wolves.

I followed Beta Amos. He reminded me of Beta Charles. The house was huge and he led me through many corridors until we came up to a part that extended from the back of the house. The area was painted white and looked like a hospital, it even smelled like one. Inside there was a lady and a man looking over some notes.

"Doctor, this girl needs your help," Beta Charles said as he walked in.

"But she is a rogue," the man in a white coat said, his voice holding a hidden anger.

"I know Doctor, but it is the Alpha's orders. He said to give medical treatment to any rogues that are badly injured and this girl is badly injured," he emphasized.

"But," the Doctor started again.

"Doctor, stop, we will help her," the lady nurse said as she turned to me. "Please sit down."

I nodded and took a seat. The Beta left the room after a final word about the Alpha's orders.

"Oh, you poor girl," the lady reached up to touch the collar.

I quickly grabbed her wrist, startling her. "Don't touch it, it's made of silver."

"Oh you poor girl, what did your pack do to you?" she asked herself more then she was asking me.

She reached for my wrists gently and cleaned them with rubbing alcohol. I didn't make a sound and I didn't talk. They knew the wounds were made from silver.

The cleaned and wrapped my legs, which were luckily starting to heal, but it would take a while.

"If you don't mind me asking what is your name?" The Doctor asked, while cleaning a bite mark on my arm.

"Clara, my name is Clara," I whispered.

They looked at each other, shock evident on their face. They seemed to be talking through their mind link. The woman's eyes filled with tears before she pushed them back before getting back to cleaning my wounds. The man looked upset as well. He excused himself before stomping out of the room.

"I'm sorry did I upset you," I asked, before turning and taking my shirt off.

"Oh no, not you dear, it's just we had a daughter her name was Claret and she looked like you. She was killed many years ago during a rogue attack," she said as cleaned my back. Then she added, “It affected us immensely and from then on our life has never been the same again. The Doctor is my husband. We dedicated our life to healing others, as we healed from the ordeal."

Just like that I found myself shedding some tears. I pitied them.
