CLARA

The day was slow from the morning. Clive had been gone all day. I woke up to find him getting dressed, then he said nothing except that he had Alpha work to do. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and was out of the room like he was never there. It was beginning to worry me, he had always yearned to be close to me.

But I couldn't think about that right now. I was going to talk to Mrs. David about Tracy and Jake. I wanted to know how soon I could adopt them. With the kids with us, I thought that Clive and I may be able to start getting in control and getting over all that had been going on. I wanted a big family.

I knew that Clive and I were not ready to have a family, but the kids deserved this. They deserved a family after what had happened to them after the tragedy that devastated their lives, taking the lives of their parents and their whole pack making them run for their lives. No one deserved that. No one, least of all small kids.
