Having just emerged from a cave, and unlike her indifference to low temperatures, Adela was hit with a wave of warmth emanating from the two chandeliers hanging from the ceiling above her.
"You're heating up," Egon whispered.
He, too, had a healthy flush on his complexion that complemented his skin tone. In fact, the warmth radiating from his bare skin pressing against her armor was the primary source of the heat she felt.
She cast a glance at another inner door she knew connected the chamber to a luxurious bath, the fragrance of the rose petals from eight years ago lingering in the air. It felt as if time had stood still in this room.
"I was thinking of heading there, not starting with a bath."
She gazed at him in silence, his dark eyes brimming with longing, his desire for her touch palpable through their bond. Her breath quickened as she let her eyes wander over his naked, unscarred bronze chest as though she were seeing him anew.
