4 – Shark

H nodded at the man when their eyes met. A few minutes later, he was holding a car key with an animal stamped on its chain. He put it in the tray with the other keys with different insignias.

She stood up from the cushioned chair. She grabs the key on top of the coffee table. She did not bother to glance at the one-way mirror. For sure, she will be seeing the same faces who were addicted to gambling.

“Are you coming back, boss?”

She shook her head. “Make more money for us, Quintin.”

He smiled at her and pat the invisible hat on his head.

Cold air enclosed H when she gets out of the building. Key in hand, she paced toward the parking lot.

People walked toward the glowing building on her back. They did not spare a glance at her but later, they will be begging for at least a minute of her men’s time inside.

She smiled to herself. These people were still full of themselves as they go inside. They wanted to relax and have fun. A few hours later, hardly any of them have their money intact. But one thing is for sure, H will be a few thousand richer when the morning comes.

She drove towards one of the well-known and expensive hotels in the metro. When she saw the huge logo of the five-star hotel from afar, her heart jolts all of a sudden.

She bit her lower lip. This is quite new to her. It has been so long since she felt this way.

She parked the car in an empty lot. She stopped the engine but did not leave the car. Instead, she leaned on her seat and let her heart calm down a bit.

She put the window down halfway when someone knocked on her side.

A woman in a body-hugging dress is standing near her window. She had her long, brown hair down. Blood-red lipstick was painted on her sinful lips. A sultry smile was plastered on it, too.

“Yes, gorgeous?”

She was given a wider, seductive grin before the woman answered. “The rooms inside were more comfortable. ‘Wanna check it out?”

H smirked. “I’m good. Thanks for the offer though.”

She put the window up. From the inside, she saw how badly the woman took her refusal. She chuckled when the same woman kicked her door before leaving.

She loves women but she never picked up anyone from the street. She would never know what she could get from them. Besides, she has women she could call when she wants to. However, she found herself with no interest in anybody after she met the lady from this hotel.

She learned that Yna’s family owned a chain of hotels in the metro and some other countries.

The ringing of the mobile phone stopped her from her reverie. It was Valerie.

She sighed. She met the woman in the casino. She was all over an old man with a bunch of cash. However, when she happened to beat the old man, Valerie ambushed her in the restroom. They spent the night in the nearby hotel.

That was a month ago.

Her phone rings again. Nala’s name appeared on the screen.

She sighed again. Nala was a flight stewardess. She might be in the city. They usually meet when Nala’s flight touched down on her side of the world. They were both consenting adults. Besides, Nala is married to an Engineer back in India.

When the call ended, she turned the phone off. She never wanted to see another name and be reminded of the kind of a jerk she was.

She was about to turn on the engine when she saw Carol. She immediately gets down from the car and runs towards the woman.

She has never been thankful for her long legs.

“Hey.” She calls out when the woman is about to call for a taxi.

The blond woman turned to her. A spark of recognition registered on her face when their eyes met.

“Hello, H.”

“Hi. Carol, right?”

“Yes.” She said with a smile. “Anything I can do for you?”

“I noticed that Yna is no longer here.”

“Yeah. She only covered for her brother’s absence.”

“Do you have any contact numbers where I could reach her?”

H found herself under the scrutiny of the blond woman. Carol was not a bit intimidated despite the fact that H is towering over her a little over five feet height.

Standing at six feet, most were overwhelmed when she stood in front of them. Not this woman.

“What do you want from her? She didn’t owe you money, right?”

She scratched her nape as she chuckled. “Yna might be far richer than me.”

“Your minion did not get her personal number?”

“W-what?”

“I found a nosy man asking about her. Did you send him?”

You looked away in embarrassment. She heard the smaller woman huff.

“Do you investigate every woman you dated?”

“Not all of them. A night with them is enough for me to learn about them.”

“You’re hopeless,” Carol said and walked away.

“Hey!” She walks beside her. “If you don’t want to give me her number, tell me where I can find her.”

“Why are you doing this?”

“I don’t know. Maybe I want to prove something.”

“Prove what?”

“That she is just like everyone else,” H said, almost irritated.

“She’s not. Besides, before you could even reach her, you’ll be black and blue.”

“I did twice and nobody stopped me.”

“Because she said so.”

“What made you think that she will not do the same?”

“You’re probably right. Good luck with the investigation of her whereabouts. Hire better men, H.”

“Please.”

Carol stopped walking. The blond woman stared at her intently.

“To be honest, I don’t like you for my friend. You have a long list of women. Yna does not deserve someone like you.”

“You have a good judge of character.”

“I’ve been told. Goodnight, H.”

She watched Yna’s friend walk away until she rode a taxi. She marched back to her car in frustration.

She has to find Yna. She is the only one that could make her feel better. Yna is the only one who could cure whatever phase she is into.

Ever since she meet Yna, she had this need to see her. She always wanted to be near that woman. It was frustrating since she was never like that to any woman in the past. Not even when she and Georgina used to date.

She wanted to think that Yna’s mouth was masked with a potion. She wanted to taste that mouth again.

She punched the steering wheel.

She will have that woman. She will have Yna.

Firstly, she has to find her. She has to know her whereabouts.

She revved the engine with a new perspective.
