You and I

Staring down at each other, more than just a moment, Xehnyier would slowly descend, eyes on the ground.

A face still as calm as ever, or just a little too tired to even make a genuine facial expression.

Within seconds prior, one wherein he reaches the ground, Nicole would blink, flickering right with a solid spear coming for the head.

[Lock]

Circling the spear, she'd jump up in the air and throw in a literal dropkick, with him blocking the spearhead, then unlocking the potential energy for it to be reflected at Nicole's feet.

"!" wincing in pain, she'd strike part of the spear with a duplicate of it, 'unstabbing' the crystals piercing her toes, and making a pole vault with the metal pipe, up in the sky she goes.

Hitting another invisible air, locked, she'd use that like a ledge, with Xehnyier on the chase back again- this time throwing large chunks of water at her, basketing them with some corals. Playing frisbee, he'd throw a plate-looking one, though was followed by White jumping on it but was hit on the left leg, severing it.

"[Accelerate] has been deactivated, either meaning she's baiting me for her vulnerability or she's tired..." he thought, starting to throw more and more, this time landing on water as he caught a fish swiftly, letting it bleed out, and placing his hand in the ocean he's surfing.

"And I'm leaning on the latter option..." as a large fin would be attracted to its prey.

As for Nicole, her eyes were scanning both left and right, sometimes being crossed-eyed from panic, "Where is it!?" asked herself in a hurry, double-timing her surge of escape, left hand already trembling from the damage she accumulated over time. "Either it's Russia or Japan, I need to have an immediate advantage!"

Breaking this train of thought was a large shark locked in for a swing from Xehnyier, its fangs bared against the doll and one bearing locks by its wielder, spinning counterclockwise to avoid the bite, only damaging one of her chests, boring through part of her ribs.

Biting her lip, she'd use her remaining leg to strike another giant spear to crush him and the shark under the ocean, at least acting as a stopgap method of fleeing. Not before long- seconds even- the crystal head would crumble apart from unlocking, "I was right..." and swinging down on the carcass of his predator animal to leap up high from the recoil.

Perm-36.

Crashing down from the abandoned gulag, now gone, Nicole would land through a curling-ball position, stopping herself with a spear at hand dragging across a floor to draw a line, then pushing the weapon deeper as Greyhair soon dropped by seeing protruding spikes.

Rushing inside, there'd only be steel doors, stone tables, and wooden slabs used for sleeping. Some already rusting away and already brittle, with major stones peppered by moss.

Before she could even process what to do, she collapsed down from half of her udder bit off, more loss of blood- not so fine. Crawling towards the side of the wall near the cracked window.

"If his ability isn't related to mazes..." heaving, "...but rather... but rather related to something similar..." punching the glass behind her, she'd grab small chunks of it.

"Then it has to be within the concept of 'patterns'. Essentially, locks and pins. That's how I was under the impression he could stop things around him because he's just using it to make a hard pin to solve, hence he would result in using projectiles to damage me offensively..." at least trying to keep her cool, the glass would be dripped with the remaining sand she has, covering part of the cleaved embonpoint and the stump where her left leg was, letting a long exhale.

No can do for her [Acceleration], nor were the giant spears. [Displacement] and her normal-sized javelins would work, though given her current skill level, resorting to her trump cards will immediately kill Nicole. Taking this cold harsh truth, she'd note all of the formulas once again, placing a duplicate metal pipe on her leg and several ones tied like ropes on her right side.

Breaking the steel door down, Xehnyier noticed the girl limping on the ground, having made new limbs in exchange for the ones he took off.

"Doing fine?" asked, readying his stance, clenching the air as he locked it. Letting the air that he locked find a way out would result in high pressure, all from the way matter works. Hence, a shot of powerful gust bullets would be fired, resulting in Whitehair piercing it with a crystal spear.

[Displacement]

Piercing his arm and at the back of his rib, with her unmoving from the spot she's in, tilting her head to dodge the measly projectile.

The problem with Locks is both an advantage and a disadvantage for Xehnyier as a whole. While complex pins and patterns allow for anyone to assume that he can immobilize them, this could very well be used against him by using said pattern- translating it into a mathematical equation- thereby bypassing his barrier.

"Unnacounting for the random instances I managed to escape and me overwhelming him with projectiles, this would be the first time I managed to hit him..."

Grabbing the stone tabletop with her 'wire' hand as she stood, the metal pipe leg would bend and twist, as if she had a prosthetic.

"Hooooo....." breathed out Nicole, guarding herself up.

Getting back up, he'd pluck out the spear and throw it back, rearranging his pants, pulling up before sneaking under to land a sweeping kick, causing the girl to lose balance on her leg and get caught by his elbow to the stomach, disarming the table.

Palming the incoming backhand, she'd plant her stub pipe on the floor, scooping up the dirt and flinging it at his face. Blocking, she'd use her protrusion to stab the spear in his foot- leaping to leave her 'leg' behind- only to follow up for another leg spear to slice his arm, but ended with it unlocking the pins and setting off a blast that knocked her back.

"Another abilit-"

Having kept the second part of his ability, Xehnyier made a deceitful tactic. By having Nicole assume that he can simply "lock" things, whilst giving the impression that his projectile throwing alongside his ability to "unlock" things, made the woman overlook this variable...

[Unlock: Unhank]

...causing the attack unleashed to send the stone table, one with enough force to knock her socks completely off, some bits of her cheek falling apart.

"No. Not yet...." a single millisecond of [Displacement] caused her cracked cheek to at least stop breaking, using the spear's extension to push herself to stand just one more time.

"I can't die just yet..." shivering from the sheer damage, "I still need to find out why I'm here. I still need to see Molly..." gripping a small spear- sorta like a knife- too hard, "I still want to see him smile..."

Looking at Greyhair's bleeding body, "But if I'm going to die, at least this bastard will have to go with me..."

"Even with [Lock], I still require guarding myself. Despite being injured like this, she possesses enough strength to put me in such a state. [Unlock] only works by using [Lock] as a prerequisite. If she hadn't kept the pressure from before and fought passively, then the chances of me landing that blow would've done nothing..."

Constant usage will result in Overuse, thereby resulting in injuries fatal or ones that could cause cessation. Said fact was known by both Nicole and Xehnyier, however...

Such situations cannot have acclimated this far without risking death at each moment.
