Chapter 27

"Oh, never mind. Show me around. Where's my brother?" Anika dragged Ariana along with her. Ariana suspected that Zach would be at his HQ, so she took Anika to Zach's HQ. She stopped at the entrance.

"Hold on, I ain't going in there," Ariana stopped in her tracks.

"Why not?" Anika asked, puzzled.

"Cause I don't fit in," Ariana replied.

"Who cares if you fit in? Let's go." Anika dragged Ariana with her.

They found their way to Zach's office, and Anika turned to Ariana.

"Wanna meet my brother?"

"Nah, you go ahead. I'm just going to take a look around."

"Okay, take your time. When I'm done, I'll come find you," Anika smiled and entered Zach's office.

"Hey," she greeted with a wide smile on her face.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here," Zach smiled. Anika walked up to his seat, and she hugged him.

"Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

"So you're Dad's junior, watching my every move?"

"I'm just saying. Anyway, I'm a new student at this school, so you should give me a grand welcome," Anika joked with a smile.

"Of course, milady, a grand welcome you shall get," Zach said dramatically and smiled.

"Your fiancée is outside. Do you want to see her?"

"Nika, you do know that I don't like that girl," Zach stated, and he frowned.

"Why? She's a sweet girl; you just need to get to know her. Trust me, I'm your sister, and I have a great eye for people," Anika added, but Zach fell silent. She knew the problem. It's not because Zach doesn't like Ariana, but he's shutting her out like the way he shut every other girl. Casey is the only girl that Zach fancies.

"Is it this thing about Mom? That's why you're afraid to let a girl into your life, Zach..."

"It's not about her..."

"You can always talk to me..."

"I don't wanna talk about it," Zach sighs and he closes his eyes.

"Okay. Aunt Alexa is arranging a family dinner so that she can meet Ariana," Anika stated.

"What!" he exclaimed.

"She's inviting everyone, including your twin."

"Zane is coming? Who the hell told her about the engagement?"

"Sorry, my bad. I wasn't supposed to tell you; it was going to be a surprise," Anika stated. She sighs and closes her eyes. She can't keep secrets. Her aunt is going to kill her.

"Thank you for telling me after getting me into this mess."

"You're welcome," Anika smiled sheepishly. "Really?" Zach glared at Anika.

"I am so sorry, Zach; I shouldn't have told her," Anika apologized.

"When is the dinner?"

"I don't know; she didn't tell me the date," she stated. "I'll do anything to make it up to you." Anika felt stupid; she can't help that she's a blabbermouth sometimes.

"Well, there is something you could do for me." Zach opened his eyes and smiled. "So my girlfriend wants a copy of your phone patch."

"I can't..."

"But you just said you would do anything for me."

"If she wants the phone patch, she has to earn it. I only give the patch to my closest friends. I'm going to class; see ya around." Anika pecked his right cheek and exited his office.

Outside the office, Ariana had fallen asleep on the couch. Anika wanted her to have a good sleep; if she slept there, she might have neck pains. She gently tapped Ariana's shoulder and called out her name softly. Ariana slowly opened her eyes. Anika called Regina, Zach's receptionist, to show Ariana to a guest room so that she can nap peacefully.

Regina instructed Ariana on the directions to the guest room, but Ariana wasn't paying much attention since she's still feeling sleepy; she nodded her head at Regina. She wandered into a room filled with pink; she didn't pay much attention to the details of the room and just fell asleep on the bed.
