Jung-woo and I went out to look for the ones responsible for Jung-woo's wounds. I had handed him my bat. It was a bit weird since it was a little too big for him. I will find him a better weapon to defend himself. We are moving from one street to another. Dead bodies of mostly humans littered the ground. There were a few dead monsters every so often.
Jung-woo and I didn't talk much, seeing as he probably thought, I didn't understand him. I should also address that I could, but maybe where we're safe.
We didn't walk for too long until we found him by a gas station drinking beer. They were all chatting up a storm.
"After this drink, we should go hunt for them." One says, tattoos middle-aged man, with a buzz cut, "We can kill the boy, but let's keep the foreigner." He evilly laughs.
They were all speaking Korean, so when Jung-woo listened in, he looked at me with worry. He still thinks I don't understand them.
Passive skill: [A VERY O.P. TRANSLATOR] is activated.
I pulled him to the side and pulled the pen and paper I brought with me from the store. It was a drawing of me luring a monter to attack the group of men. Admist the chaos. Once the group is heavily injured, Jung-woo will deal with the finishing blow.
"You're only getting yourself killed... and I've never killed anyone or anything. How can I deal a blow to grown men." I think he was just talking to himself at this point.
Passive skill: [A VERY O.P. TRANSLATOR] is activated. Due to luck being your highest stat, [A VERY O.P. TRANSLATOR] has now leveled up to[A VERY O.P. TRANSLATOR Lvl. 2].
[A VERY O.P. TRANSLATOR LVL.2]: Your words can now be auto-translated to the desired listeners. However, you can not write in their language.
My eyes widen at the sudden upgrade in my skill, regardless, I'm glad I kept LUCK as my highest stat.
I ruffle the concern Jung-woo's head, "Thanks for worrying about me." I still talked in English, but to Jung-woo, it seems like I was talking Korean because he suddenly steps back and falls on his butt. In the process of falling, knocked a trash can over.
"Hey! Who's there!?" One of the guys yelled.
"Great. Run!" I pulled him up, and we ran for the second time. Heavy footsteps followed behind us as we flee.
"You can speak Korean all this time!? Why did you make me believe you didn't understand!" Jung-woo was busy rambling to even focus on running.
"Why did you -"
"Grrr . . ."
We stop in our tracks to see an ugly ass looking wolf with red eyes as it snaps its jaws drooling. I can even see the name over its head: [lvl. 5 Rabid Wolf]
"Noona..."
We were really in a dire situation. And there was one way we might make it out alive.
"Run back!" I scream, dragging Jung-woo behind.
The group of men did not see what was behind us, so they continued to charge at us.
"Jung-woo! Bat!" I hold my other hand out and feel the wooden bat on my hand, "Follow closely!"
"Hmm!" He runs behind me.
Mustering all my strength, I plow through the sea of men knocking them all down with one hit.
"Ahhh!"
"Help me!"
"S-save me!"
They scream behind us. Jung-woo and I stop to watch the fight. The Rabid Wolf had one in its mouth and another under its paw. The rest of the men surround it with knives and poles.
"Let's kill it!"
"YEAHHH!"
While they take turns hitting the Rabit Wolf, I turn to Jung-woo.
"Let's go get your points." I watch him nod confidently next to me, taking up the bat in his hand. I sigh. This is too much for someone his age to handle. No one should have to experience killing another human being.
I squeeze his shoulder, "I'm sorry you have to do this."
He didn't say anything for a bit, "I understand." Jung-woo steps into the fight. All the men were disabled and wounded, the Rabid Wolf, struggling to get up and breathe. One of the men was able to stab its lungs before he was knocked out.
Jung-woo first killed the men who were no longer able to fight back. He smacked their heads with the bad, not batting an eye when blood splashed on his face. Even someone like me, who had been fighting zombies not long ago, found it hard to watch.
Jung-woo dealt the finishing blows. He got at least 800 points now.
"Finish the Rabid Wolf and take its core. That should be 1000 points altogether. You should be able to pass the scenario after the time runs out. " There was an hour left.
"Noona, you should take this one. I already met the requirements." He smiles at me.
"I had 200 points before we started. I guess a puppy counts as a creature." So, that's how it was.
"Okay." I take the bat from him and repeatedly give it one blow after the other. The growling stopped into a whimper, and finally, it was silent. I cut a slit on its fur where the heart would be and dig the core out. I read it in my diary while we were resting in the store.
[X1 KILL] [200 POINTS ADDED]
"Noona, they had monster cores. 32 to be exact." He hands me a bag full of money cores. Those men would have only needed one more to pass this scenario.
"Survival of the fittest. It's a dog eat dog world now." I pocket half the cores and gave the other half to him.
"Let's move someplace else before more unsavory things sniff this place out." I pick up one of the metal poles the group had. I then had it to Jung-woo.
"That should be easier for you to use. Now, let's look for a hideout to stay in for the next hour." We walked around the area, avoiding other humans and monsters.
PING!

"Noona, look! My name is on it!" Noona? When did he get comfortable with me?
I take a look at the notification screen in front of me. Since Jung-woo was carrying the bag of monster cores, he made it to the top of the rankings.
"Good job," I crack, "Now everyone is out to get you." I wave the interface away.
"We'll need to make sure no one jumps us on the way."
We were jumping on the roof when a loud piercing noise cuts through the air. We both cringe and stop to listen to what the commotion was. It was as if someone messed with the microphone settings. A voice speaks up.
"Hello! Everyone! This is your favorite Demigod Streamer - Meu-nya! I hope you all are having a fun time... maybe not-nya. But who cares! Listen up, you little worms! You have 30 minutes left to pass this preliminary scenario-nya! Nya-ow, in the remaining time left, you must find a green portal and walk through it! If you have at least 1000 points, you should be able to walk through it just if you don't, you'll see! Nya-nya!" The voice ends the announcement.
"Was that a cat?" We were running with a purpose. To look for a nearby portal.
"Yeah, it's a crazy looking one too. Best if it doesn't find you." He grumbles, turning to another street.
"Huh? Why?" I ask.
My diary suddenly comes out to show me a diary log. It was a profile of the said cat: Meu, Demigod Streamer.

Seeing as it was good but useless information, I tried to see if I could find any idea where a portal may be. However, there was not much detail in the diary except for a bridge.
"Jung-woo! Know where the closest bridge is?" He doesn't stop to think, "Yes. It should be this way."
We ran and ran. There were twenty minutes left when we made it to the bridge. There, we're a lot of small and big groups eyeing each other. Many had weapons, many were adults, and a few had children.
"Why hasn't anyone walked in yet?" Jung-woo asks. At this point, I had grabbed a hold of his hand, afraid someone would try to harm him and steal his monster cores.
"They are all afraid as to what might be on the other side of the portal." I analyze, "many of them probably don't have enough points to go through and are hoping to get the rest here."
The young teen widened his eyes before zoning in on him, "You mean, people are going to either steal or kill."
"Mmm. Let's watch from the back and see how things unfold. They will start in the next few minutes.
