Chapter 19 Part I

After the decree from their teacher, everyone separated and went to take up their positions and prepare before the festival began. The desserts that were being demonstrated today were fully-loaded Khanom khrok[1], Bua loy benjarong[2] with sweetened egg, rose-shaped Khanom chan, Leum kleun, Thong yip, a type of miniature Thong yot where the desserts were made to resemble giant water bug eggs, and Luk chup. All of them were Thai foods that were familiar to foreigners.

Another booth was demonstrating snacks and savory foods. Next to that was the decorative fruit and vegetable carving booth. The festival had gathered famous Thai foods to be demonstrated and tasted up close and personal.

Another zone of the event was where handmade woven cloth products and silver products were displayed. These were given as much attention by the foreigners as the food.
