Chapter 22 Part III

“I have something to give you.”

Sakunthara raised her eyebrows and looked at him in surprise. “Pardon me?”

The young man took out three envelopes that were in the inner pocket of his suit jacket and handed them to the young woman.

“What is it?”

“Your stipend. I was going to give it to you since we were in Thailand when we had already signed the marriage certificate.”

The young woman shook her head and reiterated firmly, “I don’t want your money and I’ve never wanted anything at all from you.”

“But it is my intention to give it to you.”

The young woman raised her head to meet the young man’s eyes. “Please don’t destroy my honor even further. To this day, your words from that day are still ringing in my ears. They have never faded away.”

The young man met the woman’s eyes and looked at her guiltily. “Can you forget what happened that day? And we can start anew.”
