Chapter 26 Part I

The young man raised his head and met her eyes. He stared at her motionlessly and inhaled before starting to tell the story.

“My normal post that I was supposed to travel to was this year, but an unexpected situation occurred. The Director of the Tourism Authority of Germany was in an accident. A plane crashed while flying to a meeting in Berlin.” The young man’s tone was even, but it concealed a sadness that the young woman could sense.

Sakunthara looked into his eyes in anticipation, but the young man paused and made an expressionless face until a person who spoke little like herself had to put the question to him.

“And what happened next?”

“During the time that I became acquainted with you, I was urgently preparing to travel here to take up my post sooner than planned. It was the most chaotic time of my life. I didn’t tell my mother all the details of the matter, but suddenly, one day, my mother saw the letter from the ministry.”
