The battle began and I we walked towards each other. I looked for holes in his stance but I'd never actually sparred before so I wasn't too sure on what to do. He began getting closer and slashed his sword. I instinctively lowered my elbow to block some of the damage but was met with a swift blow to my head. It left a noise in my head, similar to a bell but I didn't show emotion. If I showed any fear, he would pounce. I backed away and began searching for gaps in his guard again. I wasn't sure if we were allowed to kick but assuming it was combat training I did anyway. I kicked his knees back, straightening his leg and preventing him from moving for a bit then landed a blow to his temple. He too showed no emotion, we both knew that whoever showed a wince of fear would lose. As he backed away, I kept pressing on. I raised my sword and aimed right at the center of his skull but was blocked and kicked away. "Have you ever trained properly" he asked. I shook my head. "Impressive" he said as he began approaching. He stuttered his steps, making me jolt out of instinct and in that split second, he slashed my temple. I stumbled back and said, "That hurt". I didn't mean it, I couldn't feel any sort of pain for some reason, it was probably the adrenaline. He began approaching again with the same steps except this time he hit me in my gut during the stutter steps. I lost control and impulsively began swinging, trying to clear my head. All of my blows were blocked or rolled off and he swang at my head once again. For a moment, I saw nothing then by the next I was on the floor. However, I still did not forfeit, that was not a choice. Seeing my weakness, he became more aggressive, he began swinging wildly. I ducked under most of them but few hit me and those really counted. Eventually, I could barely walk straight. The world was spinning but I kept fighting. I swang aimlessly to no avail.

I woke up, still on the battleground but the match was presumably over since my enemy was gone. "You did well" said the man, "come back tommorow, you're officially part of the army of Sadukin". I sighed in relief, that wasn't easy.
