Stuck to it

One week later, New news came. "Lorte, did ya hear the rumours?" asked Paiso.

"What rumours?"

"Apparently we're goin' to war with Hauri" he responded leaving the room.

"I'm gonna train in case it's real". My heart pumped, the second fastest it's been in my life. I could finally go to war and increase my kill count. I rushed out of the room and went down to the office. "Excuse me, is there any missions?" I asked.

She glanced at me then looked at some papers. "Yea, we need to deliver something to another base in the North East". She handed me a package and a map, "Be there within 6 hours".

That was not the mission I was hoping for but it was better than nothing. I rushed outside onto a horse and began my journey. It was a rather fast journey compared to what I thought so I arrived within 4 hours. Their building was a little less grandiose than ours and a bit dirty. I knocked on the gate but realised it was open so went in. There were few people in the building and even receptionist was gone. I dropped the package off and decided to go off.

As I began to leave, I heard distant trotting. I went around the opposite side and peeked through. In front of the gates were people who I did not recognise. They were all slender and tall. Suddenly, one turned their head and spotted me. A man with hair styled up into one point. He had massive eyebrows and on his robe which had bandages on it's waist and elbows said, "Hero".

I drew my sword and prepared to Stab him as soon as he came out but that time never came. I peeked out and immediately he shot out a bow. I narrowly dodged but it skimmed my forhead, leaving a bloody mess. I turned back and began to run but was struck on my hamstring. I fell to the floor and began to bleed out. He spoke some words in a foreign language and began walking closer towards me. I stood back up and tried to slash his head off to no avail. He leaned back with a grin then kicked my kneecap back. I shrieked in pain and dropped to the floor. My life. could not. end. like this.

I crawled away but he stomped my fingers and grinned. Then slowly, he pulled back my fingers until they broke. I bit my bottom lip trying not to yell anymore. If the rest found out, they would kill me instantly. "You are dead" he whispered in my ear. A Shiver ran down my spine. He drew his bow and with one swift move, it pierced Lorte's back. His body tightened and he laid there before he loosened up again, dead.

He may have died but at least he stuck to it
