Chapter 43: The Betrayal

LEILANI'S POV

I took a breath as I looked up at the grand house I used to call home. Beyond those doors was a nightmare that I never imagined I would begin living. I guess the showdown between me and my father was inevitable, but that doesn’t mean it was anticipated.

I always thought of my father as a comforting rival, a reason to push myself to be better, work harder, and accomplish more than I would have normally thought that I could.

I huffed and trudged out of the car. I was never afraid of anything. I was always told to hold my head up high and face the consequences of my actions. I am a Williams, after all. I opened the door and peered my head inside, the silence that was once comforting surrounding the house now filled me with an unwelcome sense of tension. It’s either now or never.

I squared my shoulders and pushed open the door to his office. As usual, he sat behind his desk, a tyrant ruling his empire or a God on his throne.

“You wanted to see me.”
