The Forsaken Companions

[Kelly]

Standing in the kitchen, the aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air. Her mother's warm smile greeted her, and her father's laughter echoed through the house like a booming stereo.

"Dinner will be ready soon," her mother said, gently placing a tray of salad on the table. "Why don't you go get your father? He's working in the backyard."

Kelly nodded eagerly and skipped towards the door, a sense of joy emanating from her being. As she stepped into the sunlight, she could hear her father's tools clinking and clanking.

"Dad! Dinner's almost ready," she called out, a wide grin spreading across her face.

Her father turned, his eyes twinkling with love and pride. "Coming right up."

The scene shifted, and Kelly found herself in the backyard, playing catch with her parents. Laughter filled the air as they tossed the ball back and forth, the warmth of their bond enveloping her.
