Awakening[2]

Yu Sheng and his family waited in the long queue for well over two hours before a guard who was carrying out the usual patrol of the entire building noticed them.

"Rasia, Leydell! Long time no see! What are you guys doing waiting in queue? You have a higher relationship with Whitesea than anyone else here, you can skip straight to the front." The blonde-haired male guard greeted them and explained.

"Oh, is that so? Well, what have we been doing waiting here for two hours?" Leydell joked.

"I do not know. Let me escort you." The guard replied.

"Gladly."

A few minutes later, they entered the child registration room in the centre, much to the dismay of everyone else in the line who thought that they were pushing in until they saw the guard.

The floating white box's window came down and Leydell picked Yu Sheng up out of it and held him in his arms, carrying him to another container, this one was accompanied by many others if its kind, was shaped like a cylinder with circular metal components at the top and bottom and the middle part was entirely made of deep orange coloured glass.

As Yu Sheng was placed over it, the glass retracted, allowing Yu Sheng to enter it.

At that moment, the system appeared again.

This again? Can't I control it? Let's see what it says…

[Player possess the Interface, therefore also possess Transcendental Potential.]

The interface is this technology, right? So what is Transcendental Potential?

[Transcendental Potential Awakening Process will commence now.]

Awakening? Process? Commence? I have no idea what all of these words are…

[Completion Rate: 1%]

Completion Rate? The number is increasing? Yu Sheng, as someone from the Tang Dynasty of Ancient China, was extremely fascinated and excited by the things he considered to be technology.

[Completion Rate: 100%]

A short while later, the Transcendental Potential Awakening Process was completed.

Hm? Why is it not going up any more? Yu Sheng was confused when he saw the numbers stop increasing.

[Please choose a Class. There are 4 available Classes at the moment, they are: Martial Master, Magus, Swordsman and Mechanic.]

Class? I need to pick one, it seems. It would be helpful if I had a description of what each 'Class' is… Yu Sheng complained in his mind.

[Class Descriptions]

Martial Master: Uses martial arts and other fighting styles as methods of direct combat. Lack methods of long-range and versatility.

Magus: Uses Magical Essence created from innate Power as methods of combat. Can be useful at all ranges of combat, and is versatile. Lacks powerful methods of close-range combat.

Swordsman: Uses blades as methods of direct combat. Lacks methods of long-range combat, versatility and has a high skill requirement.

Mechanic: An equipment production class, can create anything as long as a corresponding blueprint is possessed.

—————————————————————————

What the hell? It actually provided descriptions when I thought of it? Can this interface thing read minds? Interface, please simplify the descriptions according to my understanding of this world and its language.

Yu Sheng attempted to talk to the interface.

[Simplified Class Descriptions]

Martial Master: Fights with own body.

Magus: Fights with magic.

Swordsman: Fights with swords.

Mechanic: Makes things to fight with.

—————————————————————————

This makes more sense. It seems to me that if I pick Mechanic, I will be able to make weapons from all of three other classes and overcome their shortcomings. Furthermore, Mechanic just seems more interesting. Wait, how I am speaking so eloquently? Eloquent? What does that mean? I know what it means but I have never seen the word before…

Yu Sheng's mind began adapting to his innate Wisdom stat, meaning that once the adaptation had fully taken place, he would be bombarded with an influx of information about the world. However, the adaptation would take some time, around seven years. Yu Sheng did not know of this and was quite confused.

I should not worry about it, if I am gaining knowledge about the world, then it is a good thing.

He pushed the thought to the back of his head and focused on choosing a Class.

Hm… What do I do here? I choose the Mechanic Class.

[Class: Mechanic has been chosen.]

[Player is officially a Transcendent.]

[Character Information has been updated.]

Transcendent… This is the same thing as earlier, the Transcendent Awakening Process must to be make me a Transcendent and a Transcendent must be a being who has one of the four Classes.

Yu Sheng was a scheming war demon back in China, he could deduce something like this from having almost no knowledge of the world.

So it has changed slightly. The two things that have changed are the Class and the addition of two new talents. I am guessing that the talents are related to the Mechanic Class since they came with it and the description of the talents is similar to the complicated description of the Mechanic Class before.

Yu Sheng felt his comprehension of the interface's features growing each second, he was quite satisfied.

Wait! I was too immersed in the interface, I neglected what was going on elsewhere. Right now, I am still in this cylindrical chamber, while my parents are no longer present. I think they were taken away by a guard?

He was half-right. His parents were not there, but they were not taken away by a guard, they were taken away by the leader of Whitesea himself, the Advanced Martial Master Transcendent, Wilfox.

Transcendents had grades which dictated their strength, there were eight of them in total and Advanced was the third one.

Wilfox was extremely large and tall, his stature was like that of Hercules but with substantially more muscle mass, yet he was still lean and dry, looking extremely intimidating and strong.

"Your son, Yu Sheng, has Transcendental Potential." He stated.

"What?"

"Really?"

Rasia and Leydell were both shocked out of their wits.

In the five millennia long history of Whitesea, they had a total of seven hundred Transcendents, five hundred of those stagnated at the first grade, two hundred managed to reach the the second grade, ninety-nine managed to reach the third grade, Wilfox was one of these fifty, and only one managed to reach the fourth grade.

When seeing Yu Sheng, Wilfox was shocked. Not only because he was a Transcendent that came from a family with no history of Transcendence ever being achieved, but also because of his Transcendental Potential. After inspection, he discovered that Yu Sheng's Potential was greater than his, meaning he had the ability to reach at the very least Advanced level, and maybe even the fourth grade, Expert level.

At this moment, Yu Sheng was not even a day old, yet Wilfox could see the great potential future he had.

'He would be a great Swordsman, I think.' Wilfox believed he would be proficient with swords based on the data shown through the Transcendental Potential assessment. 'In fact, he would be great with every melee class. I think the only class not suited to him would be the Mechanic class, as the assessment shows him as an upfront fighter.'

"So, are you guys going to take him in?" Rasia asked, brimming with hope and joy.

"Yes, that is a given. Furthermore, we shall give him our toughest training regime, I just hope that you don't have any lingering feelings towards him, as you will never see him again." Wilfox said.

"What? Why? He's our son!" Both of the parents protested instantly. Even though they were firm believers in Whitesea and it's affairs, every parent whose child had been enrolled in the training programme of the organisation got to visit their child regularly.

"Is he? Because, just now, legally I am his father and you two have no relation to him. In fact, since you have no relation to him, I don't understand the purpose in letting you live. After all, you may protest against us." Saying this, Wilfox pulled out a pistol and aimed at Leydell's head.

Pwuark!

Blood splattered out from his head, making the floor a mess.

Bang!

Another splatter of blood dirtied the floor further.

Rasia and Leydell were dead!
