Okay. I need to clarify something.
I don't really… know how much Alica lied to me.
All I know was that she used me to use the spirit's ability, to attract everybody's attention when Nico was talking. And by using that, she was able to turn everyone's attention away from herself and change the pacing of the scene.
It was thanks to Nico that she ended up getting forgiven by Calvin and the other girls. She also made an extra effort of purposely crying to help increase her chances of being forgiven. And because everyone was distracted, they all forgot about her first failed attempt at apologizing, which made her second attempt to be much more possible.
Now. The parts where she lied to me.
She didn't lie about how the girls are hating her because of what she did. I think that part is actually genuine, since even I predicted that one. But, what I didn't expect was how stubborn she is at getting Nico.
She acted as if she didn't care about getting Nico, when in reality, she was actually regaining her strengths as the leader of class A girls. And by doing that, she will have higher chances of facing me since all of them will be together.
Little did she know… that her efforts are only going to be wasted. Because after today, everyone will come to despise her even more.
Also… is Miranda really the mastermind? Or was that just a lie?
If it is a lie… then I'm so sorry, Miranda. You just got scapegoated, and you got possessed over nothing.
I left Aunt Linda with Miranda for a little bit and let her toy around. The idea of possessing means that a demon will genuinely enter a person's body and control them from the inside. And most of the time, the person's soul will try to retaliate since it's always difficult to fully possess a person. That's why possession cases always look so disgusting, because the person is still fighting the demon from the inside.
But, Aunt Linda is not a demon. She is only a spirit with intelligence. A naughty spirit. So, her idea of possessing is much-much different than the real deal.
As soon as I reached the bottom floor of the school's building, Aunt Linda returned to my side instantly. There is a limit to how far she can be away from me, and it seems like I have reached that limit by going to the bottom floor of the school building.
"All done?"
I said as soon as she arrived next to me from the stairs, and Aunt Linda wiped the nonexistent sweat from her head.
'It was really hard! The idea of holding her body completely sounds much easier said than done! Her body was frail and thin, but she struggled so much!"
"Haha! I can only imagine!"
Aunt Linda's idea of possession is merely… wrestling the person's body until they can't move.
By locking her arms, legs, and body, Miranda will think that her body is getting possessed. When in reality, Aunt Linda was simply holding her body in a triangle lock position. Yes, it's that simple.
But, it might be easier thought than done, because holding a human body is only easy when you have a stronger muscle than the person you're holding. In this case, not even Aunt Linda's arms can be seen, then what about her muscles? It's not like she's a WWE champion or anything.
Fortunately, we only need to convince Miranda that she is possessed for only a little bit. Aunt Linda just needs to strangle Miranda for at least thirty seconds, then she can leave Miranda be and return to me. That much is enough to be a warning and punishment, anyway.
Well, at least it was fun while it lasted. But now, I have to deal with the consequences.
'Where are you going now? Isn't class starting soon?'
Aunt Linda said, but I don't really know. I was planning on skipping the first lesson since there's no exams, and just sit around in the school backyard while playing with my phone. But, my eyes landed on a certain sign hanging on top of an office door.
Headmaster's Office.
TUK!! TUK!!
"Come in!"
A voice was heard from inside, and I slowly opened the door. As expected, the headmaster is alone in the room. He was sorting out his books on top of his desk, and he looked quite surprised when he saw my face poking out from the door.
"Miss Elizabeth? How can I help you?"
"Apologies, headmaster… are you busy?"
"No! Not at all! I'm guessing you want some counseling regarding your socializing problems?"
"Yes. I have some things I wanted to ask."
"Then, feel free to take a seat."
The headmaster said, and I happily walked into the room. I sat on the empty chair in front of his desk and talked with him while he sorts out his books and papers.
"Don't you have class starting in five minutes?"
"Sorry, sir. But I strongly believe that the topic I wanted to discuss is more important than learning German."
"Oh, is it a German language lesson? It's important if you want to go to Germany."
"I… have no such intentions, sir."
"Haha! You never know what will happen in the future. So, what questions do you have?"
As expected, the headmaster is very easy-going. He is also a 'straight to the point' kind of person, which makes this conversation very easy to have.
"It's about finding the positives from befriending me. I spent a long time thinking about it last night, but… I just can't seem to find an answer."
"Oh? In that case, why not ask a person who is already close to you? Mister Nicolas likes you, doesn't he?"
"Y-Yes, but his relationship towards me isn't exactly what you call a 'Friend'…"
I got a bit embarrassed talking about Nico like this with the headmaster, but he seemed to be enjoying this topic quite a bit.
'I like this headmaster. He is funny.'
Oh, shut up, Aunt Linda. You're lucky he can't see you…
I stared at Aunt Linda giggling for a little bit, but then I turned my eyes back to the headmaster. He looked like he was about to be done sorting his documents, and he continued his questioning while reading a paper.
"In that case, have you ever… once made a good friend?"
He asked me carefully, and I had to nod. Even though it was only for a short while, Emil is still a friend. It's unfortunate that I have to push her away… but it was the deal I made with Peach.
"Yes, but we're not friends anymore. Recently, we ended up staying away from one another."
"Why?"
"Because.…I thought being close to me is only going to affect her negatively."
"Haha! Your personality is definitely something! I assume Mister Nicolas must be having a lot of trouble getting himself close to you."
Yeah… you had no idea.
Next to me, Aunt Linda is laughing so wildly, but I simply ignored her. Because the headmaster is not done asking questions.
"In that case, can you explain to me why this friend of yours decided to befriend you?"
"That's…"
A little complicated…
Emil is friendly to me because she knows I'm the one who returned her wallet. Without her wallet, then her father might've lost his job, which could've been really bad. Knowing that I helped her, Emil ended up becoming close to me as she knows I'm her savior.
But, does that mean I instantly qualify as her friend?
"I… helped her with something."
I described as abstractly as possible, not wanting to tell the headmaster about the details at all. To my surprise, that answer was more than enough.
"See? You 'Helped' her. How is that not a positive?"
The headmaster pointed out, and my eyes were opened widely.
"You helped her, which then makes her want to become your friend. You may have not experienced it, but friendship can just form on a whim. It can be formed from a simple reasoning, like being on the same boat as one another or simply being related by something. Simply being a classmate can turn two students into friends.
Which is why it surprised me when I heard you having troubles making even a single friend. It was that easy to obtain friends, so what makes it difficult?
In the end, it was you. You are afraid of being hurt, to the point where you'd rather be alone and push people away. You're afraid of those 'Friendship' to someday punish you for being too lenient, when in reality, such a thing only happens in dramas."
Not really… that thing actually happened to someone I know very well just today.
