Actions (part 2)

But, he does have a point. Making friends might be as easy as shaking hands, but forming a long lasting and reliable friendship is very difficult. That is what I avoided, because the process can actually harm me if I wasn't careful.

At the end of the day, I just never tried. Being ostracized and bullied was only the cause of my own inactions. Because I never tried, the people ended up disliking me even though they could've gotten to know me first.

And if they got to know me, wouldn't at least some of them be on my side?

In the end… I just have to… try.

But, is it too late? Since I made everyone an enemy by dating Nico.

There has to be… some people who don't hate me for that, is there?

"So… I just have to try?"

I asked the headmaster, and he nodded lightly.

"That is correct. Open yourself, don't push people away the moment you meet them. Try getting to know them better so you can see the potential behind making friends with them. That way, you'll know better whether or not that person is safe to be friends with.

Start with your classmates. If not your classmates, then students from other classes. If not them as well, then how about waiting next week when curricular activities are available for the first years? Maybe you can find a club where you'll be comfortable with and make friends with the seniors."

The headmaster suggested, and I immediately had an idea.

He is right… maybe I can join clubs and find people who have the same taste and likings as me.

In the end… there is still a chance, after all.

"In that case, I will try a club later."

"Wonderful! Do you have an idea of which club to join?"

"Maybe… the basketball club? I don't know what clubs there are. Apologies, sir."

"Oh? Don't be sorry! It's normal to not know since you will only be told next week. And the basketball club is a wonderful choice! The members have been getting our school trophies since two years ago!"

Yeah, that's why I wanted to join the basketball club. They were famous two years ago for winning the national championship for high schools, and I think they also made it to the semifinals the year after. I'm excited to see what lengths they are going to reach this year.

"That is my biggest reason for wanting to join, sir. They're pretty good."

"Wonderful! Is there anything else that you need? Class started ten minutes ago."

"O-Oh, really!?"

I turned to the clock on top of the bookshelf, and the time shows that ten minutes have passed since the bell rang. I didn't even hear the bell ringing, and apparently we've been talking for fifteen minutes.

That SURELY does not feel like fifteen minutes!! I'm so late!!

"In that case, I'll be leaving, sir…"

"Hope you enjoy German! They always have such funny vocabulary."

Oh, so languages are funny, now…?

I left the headmaster's room after bowing at him. But as I exited the door, a female teacher looked like she came rushing to meet the headmaster. I bowed at the teacher, but she ignored me and headed straight for the headmaster's office. She hurriedly opened the door and shouted inside.

"Headmaster!! A student from the first year got possessed!!"

Oh, dear. Time to jet.

I walked away as smoothly as I could, not wanting the headmaster to call for me back. I know that he knows of my abilities, and he must've already heard about how I traumatized twelve girls in the bathroom. So, he must know immediately that I am the culprit.

Hopefully… he won't call me to his room again during lunch break…

.

.

I did not get a call to the headmaster's room. In fact, I did not get a call anywhere.

Until the day ended, all I did was stay in the classroom. I didn't go to the canteen because Nico and the entire class A are busy with their own things. And I wouldn't go to the canteen without Nico, so I ended up just reading a book in the classroom.

I did, however, become even more famous. Acting out in front of everybody like that surely made everyone recognize me better. Almost to the point where my identity is branded to their brains.

Elizabeth Rondell from class D, the girl who can see and control ghosts at her will.

Yeah, I'm famous like that. Are you jealous?

Speaking of everybody, my classmates seemed to be acting weirdly towards me. Now that they recognize my freak ability, they began to act differently towards me. Where previously they would simply ignore me or bully me, now they are openly avoiding me.

During lessons, oftentimes teachers send out the books back to the students once they are done grading. They always ask a random student to be the one sending out the books, and I was actually chosen quite a lot to do that dirty work.

Today, the person who delivered the books would just place the book carefully on my desk and immediately rush away. She was just so scared to be anywhere near me, which was weird since I have no intentions of harming her or anything.

This is probably how it feels to be a bully delinquent, huh? Everyone just fears you like that.

But, I don't really want this. If I had known that things would become like this, then I wouldn't have shown Aunt Linda to the public. I would just curse Alica and the other girls secretly.

Well, what has been done is done. It's painful to regret things, so I will just think of a way to move on from this. Hopefully everyone will forget about today and just continue moving forward normally. Maybe… a few months? And they might start treating me normally again.

But isn't that too long, though…?

The lessons ended earlier than usual, and it's finally time for us to go home. It's still bright noon, and there is still plenty of time to spend the day on. And after chatting with Nico, it looks like we're going hunting demons again with Aunt Linda.

Except… we have one more person joining us.

"Why is she here?"

I asked with a cold grin at Nico by the school gate, and Nico can only smile awkwardly.

"W-Well…"

Next to him is a lonely girl looking like she just went through so much hell today.

Yeah, it's Alica. Oh, and she has a bandage on her forehead now.

I'm not really curious as to why she even had the bandage in the first place, and I'm not really curious as to how she even got wounded in the first place. But, knowing how kind of a person Nico is, I know that he is the type to not ignore the bullied so easily. Unlike me, because obviously this 'Bullied' is a bully herself.

But, she is being really silent. Seeing this, Nico stepped in and became the speaker on her behalf.

"Elizabeth… Can I--"

"No. Fuck you. I'm not going anywhere with her."

I even cursed towards Nico. That's how pissed off I am at this whole situation. And seeing Alica's face right now, I'm sure she felt the same way.

"I'm not going anywhere with you, either! I'm only following Nico."

Alica firmly stated to me, which really escalates the already burning fuse within me.

"What did you say…? And what right do you have clinging to him like that?"

I'm talking about how close she is to Nico. She is literally hugging him, which is clearly unacceptable. I am very much shocked as to why Nico is even allowing this.

"Elizabeth… would you kindly listen first…?"

Nico asked me, and I had to let out a long sigh at him. I can't believe I'm allowing this, but this is Nico we are talking about. His charm when he is looking at me like that… is just not something I can brush off so easily.

However, there is still a limit to how much I can allow this.

"I will listen. But, if I still disagree, I don't care if you wished for it. She will still have to go."

I stated firmly while staring sharply at Alica. From the looks of it, she looked like a five year old child ready to bite me whenever. And here she is, clinging to her big brother Nico who is trying his best to persuade me.

"Understood. So… it goes like this."

And so, Nico told the story.
