After grabbing a drink, Mom sat down with me and told me her life story. How she got together with Dad, how much happiness she felt when they were married, how they are actually planning to have three children when I was still inside my mom's womb.
But, it all shattered when Dad met this lady. She was the thief, the woman who stole his heart from Mom. After that, Dad began to grow distant from Mom, until finally it climaxed when I was six, when they divorced.
From that story, I began to understand her perspective on things. Why she wanted me to be successful, and why she wanted me to have great grades. It wasn't just because she was following other mother's wishes for their child, but it's because she genuinely wants me to succeed unlike her.
She doesn't want me to make the wrong decisions like her. She doesn't want me to become a failure like her. She doesn't want me to regret the life I will choose… like she once did.
