Visit Night-Love City (7)

"Mother-in-law means… how did a son out of wedlock born from a mundane woman, rise to his father's eyes?" I asked, rephrasing it so I understood the situation.

"Yes. In no uncertain terms explain why I should continue to just that union. As a mother I want to make sure my Daughter is safe. And as a wife myself I understand the desire of my daughter to stay with the man she loves. But it falls on you to convince me. To be honest, had I known that you were an illegitimate son I might not have given my daughter away so easily." Ah Tao said, with a meaningful look. Conveying the gravity of the situation.

"I see… And Mother-in-law Huo Dai, seems to have picked up on what mother-in-law Ah Tao was thinking. Does Mother-in-law Huo Dai feel similarly? And keep in mind your answer will determine how I go about this." I said, clearly struggling to hide the fact I was upset.

"To be honest Leiji… I don't really know what to think about it. You are the illegitimate Son. What place in the Yang family do you think you would have? But knowing that doesn't change that you rescued myself, my daughter and my people. And then went on to save the whole world. I just want to know what your plans are." Huo Dai answered.

Huo Lei and Xiu Che were both in shock. Neither of them cared about if I was a legitimate Son or not. But all of a sudden it became this stigma as if I had been the one at fault for the circumstances of my birth. And then they both felt the Dual Cultivation connection cut off. Snapping them back to reality.

"Mother! Why would you do this? Husband has been so good to us. You made him so upset that he was afraid our dual cultivation would hurt us. So it's stopped now." Huo Lei complained, crying.

"Mother… I… can't believe you would say stuff like this. Husband only disconnects that link when it would hurt us. The last time he did it was when he was promoted to the Emperor Realm and suffered immense pain that even Mother Bai said would have killed low rank Open Heaven Realms. And now he has cut it." Xiu Che cried, reading herself to curse her own mother.

I stood up and paced. I needed to move around to help rid myself of this anger. It was an unusual type. One had found little experience with. But I had to calm down and fast. Otherwise my wives will start cursing their mothers over this. However, I am also a dragon and this was no thinly veiled threat to tear my wives from me. That dragon's pride is bubbling to the surface.

"After careful consideration. I don't have to answer your question. It is erroneous and pointless. Asking the child to explain the mistake of their parents is a position I find ignorant and close minded. Such things should not matter. If you asked this question of me on a whim then it is you who needs to prove to me that you are still worthy to be my mother-in-law. Xiu Che and Huo Lei have no need to prove themselves. But it seems their mothers think I'm now some sort of backwater useless man." I said, not giving them any room for themselves. "Today was supposed to be a great day. A joyous occasion and yet you pulled this." I added with a heightened sense of disappointment.

After a brief moment of silence. And looking around to see the situation. I looked at my wives. "I will always love you. But it seems the family no longer accepts me. Once I leave the room you may share the scene of the battle I had outside the Void World. Perhaps that will fix this mindset." I said, in a calm tender voice to them.

And then my father and father-in-law came running in. Each with a very different look on their face. Yang Kai was worried and angry. And Xiu Xiang was struggling to stay standing once he noticed the situation.

"Senior Brother Yang, we were too late." Xiu Xiang said, panting in freight. His family just tried to renege on a marriage agreement. And moreover one they had dared to propose. This was anything but good.

"Son…" Yang Kai said, noticing the Dragon inside, not letting me calm myself. "You have no idea what you've done, do you junior Ah Tao? After so much support. You pull this on the day you give birth to your child. One that you had to use the methods devised by my son, for you to carry like this. He is a dragon. And we don't calm down easily." He reprimanded. "Son… are you alright?" He asked.

I tilted my head and looked at him. Bending the world force so only he could see my true face at this time. What he saw… he didn't expect. One could build villages along the streams that were flowing. "What would you feel like Mother's were taken from you by ignorance." I said.

Yang Kai gulped. "I see, so that is the case. Son, I promise this will work out." He said, reading the history of the room up to that point. Then he looked at Huo Dai and then to Ah Tao. "You really said that? You questioned the bond I have with my Son. He wasn't even conceived in the normal way…" He began.

"Father, don't. I will be alright. I am just incredibly disappointed in my mother-in-law. To think everything I did was washed away in their minds. Simply because of something I had zero control over. How does one control the circumstances of one's birth? Besides, had I been born in the usual manner my wives and I would never have met. And I wouldn't have been able to save Father-in-law's life." I said, stopping yang Kai from trying to defend me.

"That's why they should apologize for this. They are going to need to apologize to their daughter every year from now on as well. Such shameful behavior. Even considering reneging on such a marriage after it's already done. It's an embarrassment." Yang Kai said.

"Father Yang, if you are leaving please let us come. I love Leiji too much, being alone… I can't bear it." Huo Lei and Xiu Che said in unison.
