Marie's Perspective

Mark slowly put his cup of coffee aside as Marie returned to sit on the sofa across from him.

As he had already had a little breakfast before coming over, he requested a small cup of coffee as he couldn't reject his mother-in-law's kindness.

"Aunty, I learned from Elena that you have plans to return to your hometown," Mark started while meeting the older woman's gaze. He was hoping that she would continue with the conversation without him having to come off like he was questioning her decision.

Fortunately, Marie just knew the right thing to do.

"I see she has already mentioned it to you. Yes. I have no job here other than sitting and waiting for a few times when my grandchild will come over so I can take care of her. Also, life in the city is very busy. I don't think I can flow with it."

Having come to this point, Marie looked at him with all sincerity of heart. "I don't know if Elena told you that I run a convenience store back home."
