“Mark, if you help me, I promise I will do anything for you in return. Just as long as cheating is not involved.”

“You will do anything I want?” Mark probed, his eyes glittering as he focused on her. He now seemed more interested in her promise than in whatever it was she wanted from him.

“Yes, I give you my word.”

Mark stared into her eyes and seeing how desperate she was, he leaned back into his seat and tapped his fingers on the table. “Careful what you promise, Darling, I’m not a good boy.” 

“I don’t care,” Elena replied with determination in her eyes. “I’m not a good girl either.”

Rachel held Mark's gaze for a moment after they were left alone before she relaxed her back against the seat.

"Earlier, while stepping out, you looked troubled. But on re-entering the room, you looked like you had a piece of good news to share."

Hearing his mother's accurate analysis of his swaying emotion, a small smile slowly crept up at the corner of Mark's lips. There would be no use hiding anything from her now, so he sat up and looked into her eyes with a smiling gaze.

"I got a message from Elena. Apparently, she visited the hospital this morning. She is pregnant," he announced.

Instantly, Rachel's eyes grew wide in surprise. "Really?" she proved. This news was so unexpected. She almost didn't know how to react to it.

"Mmm," Mark nodded in confirmation. "Just in case, I called her to confirm it and she replied positively. I will be going home to see her in a bit.
