Hex Trees (3)

3rd Person POV

As Shawn was being checked on, Kai asked the hospital for a private room for him to make a call, he reported back to his station and asked his officers to write the reports while he was there, after he ended that call, he made another one to James Arthur and made a report to that principal as well.

He then made a video call to the principal of Phoenix Academy and gave his full report.

"...This is the first time where I have to report directly to the principal." the captain commented after he finished his report

"Well, that's because the student of the A class are lesser in number, it's easier for me to check up on them." the principal replied

"Aren't you busy? You're the principal."

"I am, but fortunately one of my current job is to check up on Perseus."

"Investigate about him, you mean."

"You can put it like that, but you are sure that he can cast a spell with a regular talisman, right?"

"Yes, he told me himself."

"Not even hiding it..." James muttered as he tapped his fingers quickly against the table

"I've talked with both of them a lot, Perseus usually doesn't start the conversion, so others have to be the ones who initiate the conversation unlike Shawn, but I haven't heard of him associating with anyone."

"Well, it's hard to find it since he never went to a proper school, well technically he did once, but the last time he did...well, he got expelled."

"Well, even if that grants him time, we're also implicating his father as a part of the MSS, members who aren't a sorcerer is rare, maybe more common for their spy unit, but his father..." the captain trailed off while trying to find the right words to describe it "Well even based on some of the evidence you provided, I can't make a connection between Mr. Silver and the MSS."

"Well, I half-expected that." the principal sighs "But I need all the help I can get and you're one of them, but everyone says that Adam Silver is just an innocent bystander in this case, Perseus on the other hand, it's highly suspicious that he's that good, he must have studied way earlier than anyone else, even though he admits to practicing early, he claimed to be self-taught."

"It's not impossible to be self-taught and be able to use the regular talisman, but it's quite impossible to be at his proficiency. Is there a possibility that Minerva was the one that taught him?" the captain asked "I was a B class student at Dragon Academy, so we learned it in our second year, does the curriculum of the A class teach them in the first year?"

"Well, technically, we do let them test it out a few times here or there toward the end of the year unlike other classes, but we actually also start teaching them in the second year as it's generally safer once they fully mastered the basic talisman and that's even accounting for the fact that my class are required to reach a certain level of proficiency by the first semester."

"So Minerva couldn't have taught him, so she's out, maybe her father?" the captain asked

"Impossible." the principal answered "You know that the teaching staff of the 4 great academies are loyal and go through many tests each year."

"Just a guess, I knew it was impossible. But I heard he'll join me for the upcoming training program?"

"Yes, he volunteered for it and I just assigned another teacher to substitute for him." James nodded "Though you need to be quite careful when it comes to him and Perseus, he is quite doting on his daughters, he'll try to 'test' Perseus to see if he's worthy of her."

"So you want me to stop it?"

"No, let him do the test, it might help us learn more about the child, just make sure that Everett doesn't react negatively and go overboard."

Shawn POV

I was brought to a nearby hospital and based on what was told to me, my injuries were fairly light since Perseus' quick spell slowed down the speed of the blade thrown at me, I only got whiplash and back bruising, I was told to use ice packs and rest often while also given some medication.

I was given a quick rest and we then made our way back home where we were briefed on the casualties, 15 civilians died, and 12 were before law enforcement arrived. About 17 suffer fatal injuries and around 20 with minor injuries, that's a lot of damage caused just by 3 angels, I can't imagine the stress of those who live in areas with a higher level of danger.

Those on the front lines fight these guys regularly, and that's insane, but it just motivates me to work harder, I have a better start than Ezra, and I need to make full use of it, if I need help, I can directly ask the principal or my brother, there's captain Ida and the other 2 sorcerers at well, I can even ask the famous Minerva Everett though my brother.

"Well, there's the mistake you made was that explosion caused by a perfect overcharging of your talisman, luckily the nearby car didn't explode and shoot out debris." the Captain said "And there's also the mistake of you looking over the car instead of looking through the gap under the car. Otherwise, you 2 did great for beginners."

"Well, based on what the doctor said, even if that sword hit, you'd still would have survived." Perseus chimed in "That's only cuz there were medics on scene and the advancement of technology after the invasion of angels."

"So what do we do with the angel's sword?" I asked the captain "It looks used, but you said it's around level 4."

"We'll keep it in the armory." the captain answered "One of you can use it the next time another angel attacks, but we'll worry about that another time."
