Shawn POV

Later that day, I was supposed to accompany Perseus who has to now meet face Professor Everett face-to-face as the latter apologize and give him a handshake to show goodwill.

We got to the restaurant and went to the reserved table, it's just us 4, I notice that the principal isn't present, and there were only 4 chairs, and based on Minerva's worried expression, I don't think that the prof has any intentions of apologizing.

My brother sat directly across the prof so he received most of the glares.

"Just know that you'll only get food as your apology." the prof said

"Well, I was expecting you to jump across the table and smack my face anyway, so I'll just take anything at this point."

"Well, I might get in real trouble this time, so unless you give me your consent to smack you upside the head and bury you at the bottom of the sea, I can't do anything until the next time we meet, which isn't that long from now, we have the same flight and are placed in the same bus."

"Fun."

There was tension in the air, Perseus is mostly just ignoring it, and it was hard to tell where he was looking at since, well, his eyes are hidden behind that black blindfold. We then called the waiter for our food to fill in the somewhat awkward silence.

"I knew that it was going to be like this." Minerva mumbled as the waiter left.

"It's called being a father." the prof argued

"You tried to kill him."

"Well, a weak spell clearly wasn't gonna work he had more grace and control than you."

"Your spell was strong enough to make someone lose an arm."

"We got good healthcare, we can fix an arm, it'll just take a week or a bit more to get used to it again, and it's all for free due to free healthcare. It's why I get taxed a lot." he countered, "Besides, how did you even find him, we live in completely different countries."

"He lives in the same town as our grandparents." Minerva answered as we just awkwardly listened in silence.

At least we're at a bit of an isolated booth, so no one had to listen to any upcoming arguments.

"I thought that it was a joke that my own father-in-law came up with just to mess with me like he always does." he retorted "How the hell was I supposed to know that you actually had a boyfriend? You're supposed to be a role model who shouldn't have any distractions that can derail you from your good future."

"I don't think Grandpa and Grandma were right all the time, we knew each other for quite a while, but we started dating only about 7 months ago, and that's because I asked him out during one of our regular calls."

"So you were the one who asked him out? You're dating a coward!" he accused as the food finally arrived.

I think I noticed the waiters and waitresses listening nearby for entertainment, if I was one of them, I would too, drama like this does come around often. I'd be lying if I'd say I didn't enjoy this any bit.

"Eh, I do think it's better to live long as a coward than die a hero." Perseus said which didn't give the prof any good of a first impression.

"You 2 clearly have nothing in common." the prof facepalmed at my brother's statement.

"He's actually very heroic, he's just humble." she then turned to my brother "Hey, help defend yourself here."

"Well, it's clear that he isn't convinced, besides, why do I need to prove myself? If we like each other, what say does he have in it?"

"Oh..." she then started blushing which caused the prof to just get angrier "But what if in the future you decide to want to marry me and have to ask him for my hand in marriage?"

I then started to choke on the chicken at that statement, I also heard a crack and turn to creak that the prog broke the knife in half which was swiftly replaced as the waiter came and handed him a new one.

"Why would I do that?" Perseus asked "First of all, marriage is too fast of a topic to talk about, second, why do I need his permission to marry you? He's clearly gonna say no, and third, if you still like me by then, you're clearly gonna still marry me regardless of his permission."

"Yeah, I would." Minerva confirmed

"See, and there's a saying, 'opposite attracts', and that's our situation, you're outgoing and friendly, while I'm alone and gloomy, and somehow we're a match?"

Huh, he actually defended himself, he values this relationship more than we thought, and that's a good thing, he usually doesn't get close to anyone, and it's not like he had anyone to get close to.

I've decided not to tell him of the invitation, he's going to just ignore it, that teacher was one of the reasons that he got expelled after all, it's hard for me to determine whether he still holds a grudge, but I don't think that he'll have any great of a time since our classmates back then were incredibly mean to him.

Perseus POV

We got home a bit late, but I think that I'll at least get some sleep and let Ezra do his thing, I took off my blindfold and Ezra reappeared. I then told him what Sterling told me and without saying anything, he left for the library, he can't really move or touch anything, but he should still be more than useful.

I then slept for the day, I'm a bit tired after meeting that professor, I hid the fact that I was nervous well, he's her father after all, saying that I'm not scared would be a lie, at least tomorrow, the group is meeting up again and will be discussing a proper plan to search for this book before we're sent off for our deployment.
