Back To The Mainland (3)

Perseus POV

Without hesitation, I focused my energy, channeling the raw power of the blade of light. The world around me seemed to blur as I embraced the magic weapon's full potential. Time slowed, and my movements became a blur of light as I surged forward with unparalleled speed.

The captain didn't even stand a chance as I closed the distance between us in an instant, catching the captain off guard. Her eyes widened with surprise as I unleashed a flurry of swift and precise strikes.

The captain's defenses were formidable, parrying and countering with grace and skill like a proper great captain, her physical strength may be superior. But I refused to yield. I'm the main character, I ain't gonna go home with any more people dying.

The determination that had carried me thus far surged within me, infusing my every action. I anticipated their moves, reading the subtle shifts in their stance and countering with lightning-quick reflexes.

With every clash of our weapons, the surrounding battlefield seemed to fade into obscurity. It was just the captain and me, locked in a dance of blinding speed and ferocity. I pushed my physical limits, transcending the constraints of my mortal existence as I can see Minerva's and Shawn's shocked and amazed expressions from afar.

As we continued our intense duel, the air crackled with the leaking and strong electrifying mana and...finally, a moment of opportunity presented itself.

In a flash of blinding light, I unleashed a devastating strike, imbued with all the strength and swiftness I could muster. The captain's defenses faltered, unable to withstand the sheer force behind my blade as my sword went through her neck.

Time snapped back to its normal pace as the angelic captain crumbled, overwhelmed by the speed and power of my assault. Her form dissolved into radiant particles, dissipating into the air.

But it's not over, there's still an army left, I then took off my damaged ragged blindfold and I can hear a small feminine gasp coming from behind me.

"You lot! Prepare to run!" I shouted as I turned to my right, "Your directions better be good, I rather not join you in the afterlife."

"Have a little faith in me, little bro, leave the directions to me." he said, "Get past em first, you may be able to take on one captain now, but there are still many others, and I also don't want you to join me in the afterlife, haunting Shawn together would be very annoying."

As I gripped the blade of light in my hand, its ethereal glow pulsating with power, a surge of anger and excitement coursed through my veins.

"Man, I love killing you angels."

"Get him!" One of the captains shouted as they charged in.

As we charged through the port, the chaos of battle unfolded around me. The angelic army stood firm, an impenetrable wall between us and our escape boat.

My companions got close and did the best they could to support me. I knew I had to dig deep within myself, summoning every ounce of strength and skill to overcome this formidable opposition and fight as if this is the last fight of my life, I will kill these angels and get home.

With the blade of light held firmly in my grasp, its glow radiating with intensity, I embraced my role as the vanguard. The weight of the world seemed to settle upon my shoulders, but I refused to be burdened by doubt. This was my moment to shine.

Man, this would look so cool when I get animated.

The army pressed upon me from all sides, their wings beating in unison, creating gusts of wind that threatened to throw me off balance. But I stood firm, rooted in my purpose. I channeled the energy of the blade, unleashing devastating waves of light that sent the angels reeling back.

Ezra is shouting directions as we're running, and Shawn is doing his best to keep up a barrier to protect us as we run, we ran all over the port, and there were so many obstacles in our way, even though they are slowing us down, it helped separate the angels and slowed them more than us, making it easier for me to cut them apart.

As I carved my way through the angelic ranks, their unity wavered. Some hesitated, their eyes reflecting a flicker of doubt. I knew that this was my chance, the pivotal moment where I could turn the tides of battle. The blade of light became an extension of my will, an instrument of salvation and liberation.

"The way you die sure is beautiful, I should have my eyes out more often!"

My unwavering attitude put them off, that's for sure because the more I look excited, the more they hesitated as we ran to the other side. It took a while, but we got to the boat.

We had to go through buildings and jumped windows, making it harder for the angels to catch up without crashing through the infrastructure themselves, those in front got cut down.

The captains would do a better faster job, but the army of the regular ones is too crowded and are in their way.

"Alright, we're here, I can go now, but allow me to watch your escape attempt please." Ezra requested.

"Right, sure, don't talk too much though."

"Who are you talking to?" Minerva asked in a shout

"Focus!"

Luckily the captain and the prof had our backs as soon as we arrived, the boat roared to life earlier and had already taken off a bit, I created another platform of light to carry us to the boat while Shawn used the wand to hold the magic barrier that is now protecting us.

We got on the boat and I can see that there are now more angels than ever, since now it was not just the angels from the port and included the random patrolling ones as well.

"Alright, first phase done, now we just gotta protect the boat."
