Chapter 38: Aiden: Guinea Pigs

"I agree. We need to get out of here," Marjorie says, standing. "For all we know, she lured us down here and plans to use us as her personal guinea pigs."

I glance down at Emily, intent on waking her up, but she's already awake. Tears pool in her eyes, and I know she's heard everything. I give her a sad smile, wishing she didn't have to know what I know. She sits up and rubs her eyes while yawning.

"Okay, grab whatever you can, and let's get out of here. Be extra quiet," Tom says. He shoves the pages into his pack and then goes back to the lab to get more.

Marjorie heads into the kitchen and jams as much food as she can into her bag. I get up to do the same when Emily grabs my hand, pulling me back down onto the couch. "What're the effects of radiation exposure?" she whispers.
