The next day was Sunday. Oscar left for the hospital after having breakfast. While Olivia was busy in her room, Natalia buried her head in some files in the study.
In the meantime, Jonathan came to Natalia and asked, “Mummy, can I play ball outside?”
Natalia raised her eyes to him, “Don’t go out of the gate.”
“Okay, mummy.”
Natalia grinned as she watched him run away. She resumed her work quickly.
Jonathan came out to the backyard and began to play ball. He ran throughout the garden, kicking the ball. The ball bounced outside the gate and rolled towards the lake when he hit it harder.
Jonathan rushed out the gate, entirely disregarding his mother's warning. He came to a halt as he noticed someone pressing his foot against the ball. He stared at the black soiled shoe for a while. Then his eyes moved upward and rested on the icy face.
He glued to his spot, staring at Vincent.
Vincent picked up the ball and approached him, “Do you want to play with me?”
