Stark exited Sherry’s bedroom slowly and headed towards his own bedroom with a stoic expression.
Walter awaited him with a hopeful stare. Though he said nothing, his smile said it all.
“I trust it went smoothly?” Walter broke the silence, smiling merrily.
“She’s still as stubborn as a rock.” Stark sat on his bed and leaned with his back supported by a pillow. He didn’t want to think more about how obstinate Sherry was. Instead, he picked up a business magazine and flipped through the first few pages.
“What’s the update from Colton?” he demanded as he read one review of a business on the first page.
Walter stretched his arms. “He has carried out your orders. Miss Summers will hear from the hospital soon. Or she might, from Colton herself.”
“Delay that message to her. She’s been acting a bit strangely since arriving at the country home. She’s been disappearing a lot during dinnertime. I suspect that someone must lead her astray.”
