Chapter 59
After lunch, I wanted James to rest before heading to the shore for a fishing spree. But he couldn’t wait to sit with me. Kin went to the shed, took out the fishing gear and chairs, and brought them to the strip of sand behind the stone pier. Kin brought out only two chairs, and I looked at him, puzzled.
“Aren’t you gonna join us, sweetheart?” I asked quizzically.
Kin walked up to me, cupping my face and said, “This is your time with Dad alone. It’s his request, love. Once you wanna get back inside, just holler, all right?”
I nodded in response. Kin’s dad probably wanted to spend quality time with me, and the last I heard he went fishing was three years ago. When we saw James come down the steps to join us, Kin kissed me on the forehead and smiled.
