Chapter 7

No celebration took place. Only the judge and the attorney were there, neither Leyla nor Madrigal came. Right, I was the one who suggested it, I don't want the occasion especially since the wedding didn't really happen, we just got married on paper so that he could give back the shop he removed from me and so that I wouldn't lose him again. I felt the pain on the side of my head. Damn it, I don't know if it was a good decision I made not to. I bit my lower lip and looked at my cellphone, waiting for mom's call.

I talked to Suki yesterday. She said that we would meet tomorrow, with Hayden there to talk about what happened when I signed the paper, and being Louis' official wife. I know Hayden will be surprised at what I did, but that's really the only way to get his job back. I'm currently sitting on the bed, Louis will arrive later-- he's in the company, fixing some issues. So I'm still at peace. And when he was there, I would go to the other room, I did not want to sleep with us in the same bed. The mansion is quiet now, there haven't a lot maids since their day off today, as well as the other guards. I just hope Louis doesn't make a fool of himself.

I smiled as the cellphone vibrated. I didn't look at it yet and quickly accepted the call, my smile widened. Because I told mom that I wanted the first voice I would hear was Jaxon's voice.

"Jaxon!"

I shouted happily and called his name, but I frowned when no one said a word on the other call. I mentioned his name again.

"Jaxon, baby. It's Jassie," no one answered again. "Baby? Why are you not talking? Did something happen?"

"Expecting someone, huh?"

I grew cold to hear the voice of someone from the other line. I looked at the screen and now I just realized that an unknown number turned out to be calling. I covered my mouth as my eyes widened. Even though I am not facing him right now, I already know his reaction."

Damn it...

"L-louis!" I stuttered, bullshit.

I think I should be careful next time.

"I'm going home and we'll talk."

The call ended immediately. I was gripped in the chest by the feeling of nervousness, shit. He seems to be angry. I quickly hid my cellphone in my pocket, I made the bed first before getting up. I also looked at myself in the mirror. It was a bit embarrassing, he might have thought I had another man. I shook and cast a spell, I opened the door and went out. Even though I hadn't finally reached the living room, I saw Leyla sitting there, she was bent over while Madrigal was looking at her.

"You are getting into my nerves, Leyla."

"So am I."

Because of Leyla's answer, I noticed that the face of the man in front of her darkened. Why are they like that? Are they a real enemies? Why is it-- when they talk, you will think that they are so mad at each other. After all, Leyla is a stubborn one while Hendrix Madrigal is hot headed. It seems like they will never get along. I stayed on the stairs, hiding and just listening to what the two of them were talking about.

"Tell me."

Leyla's head did not move and remained bent over.

"There was this man... following me."

What?

"Who was that man?"

"I don't know, okay? I have no idea who he is. I just noticed him always following me. I know he's my schoolmate since he's wearing the same uniform, but I can't really see his face. Every time I go home, I feel like he is following behind me, every time I am alone, I feel like he is always watching me."

What? What are they talking about? Who does Leyla refer to as always following her? I saw the movement of Hendrix's jaw as if he was so furious-- but trying to hide it-- with what Leyla said. What's happening?

"You--"

"This will only be once," she sighed. "Don't say this to Louis or to anyone. Please, Hendrix?"

Madrigal gasped slightly. And because I was waiting to see what they were really talking about, I sat down on the stairs and continued to listen to what they were talking about. I looked at the phone, I felt the vibration of it, it has a message from someone. This is the number Louis used to call me earlier. He had a message for me, he said that don't I dare to leave this goddamn house. He seems to arrive after thirty minutes. I put that aside first, it will be a while before he can go home.

"This is a fucking serious, dumbass. How cant I not say this to your brother?"

Leyla sighed in frustration and played with her fingers.

"I just don't want to be a problem for him anymore. I am begging you, just this once, Hendrix. Please don't tell this to--"

"What about that girl?"

I flinched.

"Who?"

"That girl who's been listening to us for a while."

My eyes widened as Hendrix suddenly pointed to the position where I was. Leyla frowned when she suddenly turned to me. My eyes grew bigger even more. And because of shame and nervousness, I quickly stood up, I went down the stairs and bravely faced them.

"I-I am so sorry! I h-heard everything, but don't worry. I won't tell this to other's. I'm so sorry!" I bowed and closed my eyes tightly.

Not one of them said a word. I opened my eyes and saw that they were both looking at me.

Only now have I noticed that Hendrix Madrigal is handsome. Jett black hair, his eyebrows were thick to almost meet, his nose is also piercing and his eyes are deel beautiful, his lips are quite thin, his face is smooth and there are no pimples. He has these muscles, broad shoulders. Even when he is sitting, it will be noticed that he is very tall. I feel like he's more handsome than Louis-- I mean, they're both handsome. The only difference is that he looks more matured than Louis, and his complexion is a bit darker than Sullivan's. I heard the news that this one is also smart, rich and the company he holds is famous-- just like Sullivan's Scented Society.

"It's okay, I trust you that you will not tell this to my brother. Please don't tell other people either."

I smiled sweetly at Leyla, I sat to the other sofa.

"Yes! I will. I promise, I will never tell this to anyone."

"Is that the reason why you don't go to school?"

Leyla bowed and nodded softly. This is the first time I’ve seen her with no appetite. The girl is a bit pale, she's just calm now and doesn't shout or complain compared from the last few days and weeks. Because of what I heard, I was also worried about her, if someone was following her... why did she just say this this time? Is it possible that the one who's following and watching her is a... stalker? Leyla seems like she is in a dangerous situation right now. This is not good, there is a possibility that she  something bad might happen to her. I bit my lip and just watched her.

I just stopped, received a text. It is from my mom.

From mom:

Honey, I am so sorry. I was not able to call you, Jaxon's school is having a family day today. He wants you there.

I blinked.

Me:

Sorry, mom. I can't go in there. Just please tell Jaxon that he can come in here next week.

From mom:

We'll go there or you'll go in here? We want to check your shop.

I was surprised. No... freaking way.

Me:

No, mom! You can't to the shop. I am still fixing it.

From mom:

Fixing? Jessamine, what happened.

I did not replied right away. Oh shit, what should I tell to her.

Me:

It's nothing, the window just broke when a biker accidentally hit it. I still took him to the hospital.

Please believe it, please believe it.

From mom:

That's terrible. Is he now healed?

Me:

Yup! He's completely fine :)

From mom:

Alright, just get Jaxon here. He badly misses you.

Me:

I will, please wait me there.

Jaxon was left in the care of mom and dad. We are close to each other. When I still don't have my flower shop we always watched cartoon movies while eating salad, he loved movies. He also likes to see toys, it's been a few years since we last met. And since I miss him too, I was planning to bring him here. It's for Louis, to not get angry again and mistakenly thinks I have another man.

"Just stay here, I will do a solution for it," Madrigal said as he stood up.

"Thanks," When Madrigal came out and Leyla looked at me. She gave me a sad smile.

"Leyla--"

"Promise me that you will never tell this to my brother, do you understand?"

I did nothing but agree with her. I'm scared for her, once I know that the person is still following her, I won't hesitate to tell Louis about this. This is too dangerous for her, and she can't solve it in her own way-- Hendrix is there so... possible that this time, she will be safe. But not in a few more days, or weeks and months.

I would like to ask if she has a relationship with Hendrix. I'm not interfering. I just noticed Madrigal's strange stare at her. Every time Hendrix looked and spoke to her, his eyes seems like he wants to tell something as if he wanted to convey something to Leyla. It's just that this Leyla looks numb. She doesn't seem to notice that the man likes her... or she just keeps denying it to herself?

"Leyla," I called.

"Yeah?"

"Do you like him?"

She shut her mouth.

"W-who?"

"Madrigal. Hendrix Madrigal, do you like him?"

"What?! What kind of question is that?  O-of course not, I will never like that old man."

I smiled to see the reaction on her face. Liar, she is lying. She tried to avoid looking at me since I asked her that thing.

Liar.

They can be together, the age gap is quite big. Leyla is only eighteen while Hendrix is twenty-eight-- almost the same age as her brother.

"What about you, do you still like my brother?"

"W-what?" She smirked at me.

"Do you still love him?"

I did not answer. He cheated on me a few times, and I was furious at what he did. I did not answer, but I looked at her. By the way I look, I think she already knows my answer. No, I don't like Louis anymore.

Enough of the pain he caused me and I will never let that bastard ruin my life again. Suki is right, after a few months I will file a divorce with him.

"No."

I answered.

"Jessamine."

I was shocked.

I looked at the door and saw Louis standing behind.

D-did he heard what I said?
