Chapter 4 The new man

POV Samuel

"Just kill me!" Carlos shouted, his voice booming. He sounded furious, and his eyes fixed on me.

My whole body was shaking violently, and I didn't think I'd finally come face to face with my brother. My shoulders moved up and down following my irregular breathing.

"I will kill you. You have already harmed many shifters in our clan." I glared at him; although I didn't have the heart to kill him, I had to kill him. This is our clan's rule.

I was killed, or he was killed. This fight is a fight to the death.

If I don't kill him, he will still be the leader of our clan.

Its jet-black fur accompanied its massive body as it surrounded me, its teeth sharp and fang. Many wolves have died in his hands. My sweat dripped down my face. My heart was beating fast; those damn hunters ravaged our area; after discovering that my brother was the traitor, while he was the Alpha, the clan leader, I decided to challenge him.

My body was filled with anger, and it was as if anger had built up in my head. I bared my teeth, tears falling to the ground.

"You deserve to die; you have got grandpa killed." I can't forgive her betrayal.

"Hahaha," Carlos laughed as if it was a small matter. "He deserved it. He deserved to die."

I attacked him. "Traitor!"

A loud moan escaped his mouth as my teeth stabbed into his neck. His skin was wide open when I made the wound wider.

"Aaaah!" He stuck his sharp nails into my back.

"Ah!" I let go of my bite, groaning lowly as his sharp claws cut through my skin. Blood gushed from my skin.

He banged his head against mine, making me stagger. He put his feet on the ground; The ground around me shook.

Drops of blood splattered around us, he laughed.

"Don't challenge me if you're not ready to die," he sneered.

I walked around him, my colorful feathers in the light. Now my color has increased by one: red from the fresh blood that made my feathers sticky.

"You must die right now!" he said, then attacked me brutally; he clawed, dragging his claws making me howl, enduring unbearable pain. His other hand stabbed my neck, making a pretty deep cut.

I fell weak, and I was helpless. He laughed heartily and uttered another insulting sentence. "Don't you dare challenge me, Little One!" He smirked. Then it came closer to me, biting my hand until there was a loud "crack" sound. I howled. I couldn't stand the pain that was hitting me.

"Make a plea to me to forgive you. Then I will pretend this day never existed."

My head lay on the ground, my body limp. Better than being insulted like this. My breath caught in my chest.

I'd rather die, I thought again.

I will become crippled, and my hands will no longer be used. When I closed my eyes, he laughed happily, then a terrible thing happened. He walked towards me and bit my neck.

"Aaaahhh," the last word I screamed weakly at this moment.

Cold sweat covered my body. I'm already helpless. I am dead.

My heart keeps beating, and I scream as I open my eyes. "Help!" My breath is still ragged. I sat down from my dream.

Dream ...

Dream ...

Dream ...

I clutched my neck, examining my entire body. This dream feels so real. I will die at the hands of my brother...

***

I have to find the girl.

The elders said that they can feel the smell, but why can't I think the scent yet? I am already eighteen years old; the wolf inside me has also changed. Unlike my other friends, I have not tattooed my body by writing the woman's name who will become my lover in the future.

"Today, I met a naughty girl," my brother said; he had just come into my room. It's his final year in junior high school; next year, he will go to the same school as me.

"Don't tell me you're annoyed, and you'll like her later? Is she a werewolf?" I asked teasingly, and I purposely mentioned whether the woman was a werewolf, reminding him that we only marry our fellow nationals. The elders in our pack are pretty strict, they want pure lines, so I, as Alpha, am expected to get to know Tiffany before we date.

Tiffany is the daughter of Betha, who has a good name that is quite respected in our pack. The problem is I've never met Tiffany.

Jason laughed. "She couldn't have been a werewolf. No werewolf was so annoying as her."

"Then we shouldn't have to talk about her," I suggested. Of course, there are many other topics we can talk about. For example ...

"When will the elders meet you with Tiffany?" Jason asked suddenly, and my stomach churned. I wouldn't say I liked this matchmaking show, and the topic of Tiffany was never on my schedule.

"I wish that never happened," I replied, walking over to my desk. "Gosh, I have to get ready; I have an appointment with Raymond and the others."

This time Jason laughed louder. He knew that I would always refuse to talk about this ridiculous matchmaking event. "Stop laughing," I said. Then I put my phone in my pants pocket. "Mr. William said Tiffany had long silvery-white hair, blue eyes, and she was nice."

For a few seconds, Jason seemed lost in my story, and he didn't try to get out of my room even though he knew I was going to leave the room soon. "Okay, little brother, I have an appointment with Raymond, and I have to get going. So...do you want to leave my room before I roast your annoying girlfriend and ask her to play with you?" I asked, chuckling.

"Do you know anything?" He asked with an annoyed face, making me wonder what was upsetting him.

"What's with your face? Something bad just happened?"

Jason shook his head. His long legs still stretched along the bed. His handsome face looked confused. "When you tell about Tiffany's characteristics, I immediately remember that annoying girl."

"Who?"

"The girl I just told you about," he said irritably.

"What's her name, Tiffany?"

Jason shook his head roughly. "Seriously!" His face was like that of someone who had just swallowed the medicine, and it looked bitter. "I don't know her name yet, and she's new at my school. I saw her coming down from the school bathroom window."

I gaped at the story. "That's quite high..."

"And dangerous."

I nodded in agreement with my brother's words. "Why did she do that?"

"Someone crazy enough has called her Boss, and the girl seems impressed by her new calling, so it's as if she's trying to prove herself worthy of being Boss to a bunch of crazy kids."

I laughed out loud at the story. Jason rarely talks about what's going on at school, so if he does tell me something, it means something interesting, and I think it's pretty interesting. I knew how high up Jason's school bathroom window was. Jason was right, and only a lunatic would do such a reckless act.

"Say hello to her. I wish I could still see her with no broken bones all over her body." I snorted in amusement, imagining the girl's entire body covered in bandages.

This is my last year in high school, I have to study hard to get good grades, and I can get into the college my dad asked me to.

We shifters live together with pure-blood humans. To maintain our existence, the elders would marry us off to our neighbors. This year I was charged with dating a girl. The elders often mention Tiffany's name. Tiffany herself is studying in another city, and she will come early this year's summer vacation.
