"I told you not to mess with your school again!" I've never seen my mother be so angry as now. She indeed always didn't like when I had anything to do with the principal or the police, but I had never seen she is like now.
"No, Mom. I do nothing. They suddenly came after me. I ran away, but they chased me even faster." I had to defend myself because I couldn't bear to see the sadness on Mother's face.
However, my mother still doesn't seem to believe what I just said. We talked outside the police station; the previous officer called my name, allowing me to leave the room. My heart would burst if I were there for another five minutes. That young man with loose teeth will not let me go that easily. Luckily, the police officer immediately asked me to leave his office.
Suddenly as she rebuked me, "I don't know how could to tell you." My mother clutched her chest, her face turning into one of pain. She bent her body.
"Mother!" I immediately carried her. My mom has to go home soon. "What's wrong with you, Mom?" I asked anxiously. "Should we go to the hospital?"
My mother shook her head. She said while lowering her head, "No need. We're just going home." We strolled, I still support my mother. In front of us, Mr. Cheng Lo is walking towards us, and he will enter his room behind me. I nodded my head, saluting him, but he didn't look at me. He continued walking with a pale face. In my mind, I wonder if Mr. Cheng Lo was thinking about the young man named Samuel whom he had spoken to someone on the phone earlier.
Is the boy named Samuel the same guy I met in the supermarket earlier? I am very grateful to the young man because he allowed me to drink his coffee; I hope that Samuel that Mr. Cheng Lo that talking about is not Samuel who doing me a favor.
I glanced at Mom, and she looked so hurt that her face was so bent. "Are you sure we don't need to go to the hospital?" I asked in a worried tone.
"No need." Mother gripped my hand, and I don't know why she felt like she wanted to get out of here right away. My mother's palms were wet; I felt it in her firm grip.
"Okay, Mom." I can only nod my head and walk faster to balance Mom's walking speed. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see my mother looking back every so often. I was thinking, is there anyone in this place that she knows, or is she avoiding someone? In my mind, the only person who made my mother become so nervous was Mr. Cheng Lo a few minutes past. Then my brain thought about the extraordinary things between my mother and Mr. Cheng Lo.
I could know the man's name was Mr. Cheng Lo from the man's nameplate and the name tag on the man's uniform.
My mind is a little wild when I think about the possibilities between her and Mr. Cheng Lo. First, my mother had a romantic relationship with Mr. Cheng Lo, but my mother changed her face so that when Mr. Cheng Lo meet again with her, he couldn't recognize my mother anymore. I almost laughed thinking about this, and my stomach hurts so bad.
"Why are you laughing?" my mother asked in a crooked voice.
My mother's question made me gasp; how could my mother have guessed that I was thinking about something? I did not dare to think about other possibilities, even though I already felt my mother might have stolen something from Mr. Cheng Lo. Still, unfortunately, the guy didn't know about it, and when my mom saw him again now, my mom got scared. Hahaha, of course, this is impossible, as I recall that although I frequently move from one city to another, I have never lived in this city.
I shook my head, but the question of "what is the relationship between my mom and Mr. Cheng" Lo couldn't stop me from asking my mother. "Mom, have you ever known Mr. Cheng Lo before?" I don't know why this question just came out of my mouth.
My mother immediately coughed, she removed her hand from mine.
"Mom, are you okay?" My mother's face looks like an overwhelmed person. "Is it true that we don't need to go to the hospital?"
"No! No need! I mean, there's no need." Mother moved restlessly. She's uncomfortable.
Suddenly we both turned our attention to the figure in front of us. "Aunt!" In front of the gate, the girl's voice was heard, and her hand was waving at us. I stared.
She… "Maria," my voice was low and muffled. I looked at Mother.
Before I asked, "Why is she here?" my mother had said, "Did you meet Maria at school?"
"What?" I couldn't believe my ears. "What do you mean, Mother?"
Now it's Mother who turns to look at me in surprise. "Didn't you meet Maria at school?" Mother repeated her question, and as if to answer the question to my confusion, Mother explained, "Don't you know that Maria goes to the same school as you?"
"What?"
"Maria, your cousin goes to the same school as you."
Oh no. My future is ruined.
The girl was running towards us with a bright smile, her lengthy hair moving back and forth as she ran. She looks so beautiful, alluring, and… hypocritical.
I cringed. I can't move my legs. My heart beats fast. Her presence is a pain in itself for me.
"Why didn't you tell me that you'd be at the 'police station' long enough?" When she said "police station", Maria gave me a sharp glance and lifted one corner of her lips. I snorted and turned to the side. To me, the sight of the stolen motorbike in front of me is more attractive than the girl with bald and big breasts.
My mother smiled at Maria. "I'm sorry, Maria. Earlier, the officer who handled us seemed there is business, so he took care of the problem first." I did not expect that Mother also notice Mr. Cheng Lo.
"Yeah, it's okay, Auntie. If only I had known, I would have accompanied Aunt to pick up Paris from prison."
I groaned, my hands clenched into fists. "I'm not imprisoned!" I said.
Maria act as if she didn't notice what I just said, she moved her head, instead of looking for something up ahead. "That's my car."
I sighed. Maria is annoying. "You're not even seventeen yet, but you already have a car."
Maria stopped her long legs then looked at me. "I'm not a child like you who has a hobby in and out of prison."
My whole body is shaking, and it is true that I don't like Maria. "Watch your mouth," I emphasized so she wouldn't say anything reckless.
"Why? Are you willing not to go to college because you have to be in prison, huh? Very funny!"
"This kid!" I growled I wanted to punch her in the mouth, but she was right that if I served her, I would be the only person who would destroy my future. For whatever reason, I have to go to college for the sake of my family's good name. I don't want to embarrass my mother all the time.
"Stop, Paris. We're outside. Don't make a fuss here," my mother warned. I bit the inside of my cheek until it bled.
And without anyone asking, Maria suddenly said confidently, "Take it easy, Aunt. I will watch every move that the child will do. Then you don't worry at all; my eagle eyes will never leave her."
Oh, Maria ...
