Chapter 43 That\'s Jason

I took Paris somewhere; there was a lake that had sparkling water. Above us, the moon was so bright that its rays cast a shimmer over the still surface of the lake.

I put my arm around Paris' shoulders, and she leaned against my chest. Her face was still puffy, and I could see out of the corner of her eye a clear crystal that almost fell onto her soft cheekbones.

"Don't be sad. Your aunt has been protecting you all this time," I started to talk about her so she wouldn't be sad.

I could feel every breath she took full of sobs, but she held it in, so her back shook every time she exhaled.

"I don't know what to say now," said Paris finally after she had chosen to remain silent for so long. I wiped the tears from her face and brought a strand of hair behind my ear.
