Chapter 7 DISAPPOITMENT

Tessa’s POV

I look at myself in the mirror, my brunette hair is nicely placed on my shoulders and it bounces as I move, yeah my beach waves, these are really going to kill Andrew today.

Yes, today I'm going to meet Andrew Jack, my crush, my love, and my future husband. Our marriage has been approved and the date will be fixed soon, though the ceremony will be held secretly only including the family. Mom seemed to have a quarrel about this arrangement with dad yesterday, but I am happy that Miss Swan has approved my marriage with Andrew, what else do I need except this.

Even if she reveals it to the public or not I will be legally Andrew’s wife and no one can change that fact.

I smile, triumphantly. I am wearing black stud earrings and put on light nude makeup because I don’t have any idea if Andrew likes the cakey makeup woman or if he prefers the light natural makeup one. So I have put my makeup light with minimal accessories, I hope he likes everything and if he doesn’t then I will definitely try to change the way he likes me to.

HONK… HONK… HONK…

“Andrew is here,” My mother exclaims and my heart misses a beat.

I turn to pick up my small clutch and then kiss her on the cheek, I bid her goodbye. “It’s going to be ok, Mom.” I comfort her before leaving, I know my mother is distressed by the behavior of brother and sister, but what can we say, they are rich people and we are just normal people who work under them.

“Huh..” Taking a long breath, I finally walk out with confidence and grace, a man climbs out from the driver’s seat, he looks muscular, with short neat black hair, and a bit short height he has, not much but as I am wearing heels I look taller than him.

“Good Morning Miss,” He greets me politely and then opens the back door for me to sit. I try to hide my nervousness and with a confident look sit inside.

BOOM

The door closes and I am alone in the car, what the….?

The man who has just opened the door for me sits back in the driver’s seat and looking at my confused face, he says, “Mr. Andrew won’t be joining us, he is busy currently but I will be here at your service, Miss.”

F**k… A huge rock crushes all my hopes.

I had been so excited to meet him and even put so much effort into looking good and he was busy with something, How dare he? Is this work more important than his wedding…!!

Ahh… I want to scream out of my lungs and want to scratch his whole car with my nails but I sit calmly because except for doing this I have no choice left. I feel a bit insulted too as he has not shown up to pick up our wedding rings and my dress, would it mean I don’t mean anything to him?

A tear of sadness falls from my eye and the man in the driving seat seems to notice it, “Miss…” He calls and then hands me the tissue.

“Mr. Andrew would never leave you like this… It was really a last-minute decision.” He tells me and I feel a little good about this little piece of information.

“Who are you by the way?” I ask as I wipe my eyes carefully not spoiling my liner.

“I am Ron, Mr. Andrew’s bodyguard.” He introduces himself with a smile and I smile back in response, “It’s good to see you, Ron.”

He blushes as I call his name, weird. But at least he looks concerned for me.

The car stops and we enter a huge store to select the rings, The woman at the counter shows me multiple rings but I don’t look satisfied with them. I finally chose to customize the rings. I want something that will make us look unique.

Ron looks a bit disoriented, he isn’t smiling now. I sit in the car and ask him curiously, “What happened? Is everything ok with you, Ron?”

“Oh.. absolutely…” He shrugged and I could sense him tensing but I didn’t say anything further.

Later, he takes me to a bridal store, time for my wedding dress. “Ron, can you help me select a dress?” I ask Ron and he looks at me bemusing.

“I mean… You should know Andrew’s taste, what he likes now? How many years are you with him?” I ask as we are walking inside the store.

“Nearly 8 years…” He replies politely.

“Good then.” I say and then a woman walks towards us, I follow quietly and pull Ron with me, after all, I need his opinion.

The woman takes us inside a room that has multiple bridal dresses, my eyes light up with joy and excitement. OK, Tess, show time…

I keep trying one dress after another and then finally a dress in the corner catches my interest.

“That one..” I point at it and the woman looks at me hesitantly, “I don’t think Miss Swan…”

“I want it,” I tell her, cutting her off. This is my wedding dress and I should be the one selecting it not anyone.

She brings me the dress, I touch the fabric. It's too smooth, the upper part of the dress is fully covered with lace, it has a round deep neck, the sleeves are full and made of very delicate net fabric. It has embroidery on it making it more beautiful.

The back of the dress, oh wow, it’s backless. “I want to try this,” I tell the woman and she frowns but nods her head helplessly.

I put on the gown with the help of a young woman, yes the dress is just too delicate. I walk out of the dressing room, it has a mermaid tail that hugs my bottom perfectly.

When I walk, the tail of the dress moves making me feel like a queen, holding the corner of the dress I call out Ron’s name who was busy looking in the magazine, “Ron..”

He looks up and his eyes pop open and his jaw drops too, “I’ll take it as yes.” I tell him with a smile on my face and then habitually make a slow spin.

“No…” I hear Ron’s hoarse shout, as he notices my bareback.

“Miss, I don’t think…” He begins with the same narrative as the other woman and I stubbornly stop him, “No, it’s perfect and I am going to take it.”

He shut his mouth immediately but his eyes trail over me nervously and then finally he nods his head, “Fine, I’ll go and pay.”

I smile back and thank him politely.

After our lunch finished on a good note and then Ron dropped me back at my home, “Ron, do you think your Andrew Sir will like me?” I turn and ask as he closes the car door that he had just opened for me.

“Sure, why not, Miss. You’re lovely.” Ron praises me and I blush.

“Thanks, Ron, I hope Andrew has completed his important work by now,” I tell him, and then bidding goodbye I walk to my house with a light heart.

I quietly walk inside the home, I know if I tell my mother about Andrew's absence another chaotic topic will start to arise to break this marriage and I clearly don't want that.
