Chapter 31 The twisted past

Gabriel Havels reached the orphanage. He was nervous because whatever the truth was, it would change his life. He saw children playing merrily in the playground and his heart swelled. He walked to the administrative office and before entering he knocked on the grey door. The sister, who was the in charge of this place was setting the book shelf when she heard the knock. She asked him to come inside, politely asking him to sit on the couch. The Mayor noticed that the woman was acting a bit odd, she was nervous. “Hello, Mr. Mayor” she greeted with a smile and set a cup of tea on the table. After passing pleasantries, the mayor wasted no more time and asked her about the reason.

The woman for some reason appeared to be guilty. She was not looking him in the eye and have looking at her bookshelf. “I am sorry, Mr. Mayor. There has been some misunderstanding from my part. I mistakenly checked someone else’s record. There is no record for the child you asked for.”
