Abby Brooks, who spent her life being single, had always dreamt of being a different case than everybody else—she wanted to have a child and raise that child on her own.
And one night, her dream was fulfilled when she met a brokenhearted, handsome man at a club. He was the perfect candidate in her eyes. It didn't take long before things got heated after several drinks, and they spent the night together. She felt bad for taking advantage of him, but then again, she swore to herself that it would be the last time they'd see each other. Things took a turn when the old president that she worked for suddenly died, and it turns out that the heir is none other than the man she had slept with that night.

"Jack, tell me your thoughts. What do you think about her?" I mumbled while my elbows lay on my desk, fingers clamped together.


"According to Remy, she’s far from a liability. She has an excellent portfolio and works well. I don’t see any problem, sir,"


I invited the chief of the marketing department to my office so I could know more about her. Unfortunately, everything he said was already on her resume, so I had to investigate her background secretly. There was nothing particularly interesting about her records; there were no extracurricular activities or any relationships in the past. But how can that be?


I pulled out her resume and stared at her innocent-looking picture. "I could tell she’s lying. I’m sure she’s up to something. Can you believe it? For the first time, a woman used me without getting anything in return. That sounds absolutely ridiculous."
