Chapter 7

I was still utterly confused on the information I had just learnt, I don’t recall any type of house fire or ever seeing Colten before this point. Harvey sends me a smile as I look over at Colten, is someone going to explain to me what the heck these two are talking about?

“It is a memory that will always stay with me, it was 200 years ago now, there was this strong, invincible she-wolf who defied the odds and led her pack to be the largest pack ever known. Her name was Alpha Eliana” Colten explains with a smile, while I stood there still quite shocked how the Alpha Eliana was able to pull all that off.

But then my brain starts to see the differences between me and this Alpha, yes we share the same name but that’s it. She was this strong Alpha who managed to lead her pack, she probably faced so many hardships for being a woman but that didn’t slow her down. Then you take a look to me, a normal girl who hasn’t even shifted into her wolf. I have to get others to save me from my problems because I’m too weak, I’ll never be as great as that Alpha was.

Harvey looks over at me with a kind smile, he always likes to tell me he can read me like a book. I just know by the look on my face, he could tell I was comparing myself to this Alpha who I’ve never met.

“Don’t worry Eliana, I just know you’re gonna be the best most incredible Alpha when you’re ready. Things take time, but in the end you’ll show everyone how strong you really are” he smiles placing his hand on my shoulder as he spoke, I smile giving him a side hug as I went “it’s not just about what’s on the outside, or how physically strong a person is, it’s about who that person is on the inside and how they treat the others around them. That is what makes a person who they are” he reassures me always knowing the right things to say when I’m feeling down.

It was now many hours later, the celebration for Alpha Colten’s safe return is underway. I was serving all the guests, I was just happy I could help with the celebration as a little thank you for Colten saving me, even though he continues to say I don’t need to thank him. I had just served a she-wolf her drink when Alpha Dylan rises from his chair with a glass in his hands.

“I think it’s only right that I make a toast, I of course am so happy that my nephew has returned home safely. I was starting to worry that he received the same fate as his father, my late brother Alpha David” he starts with a sigh, I remain where I was just staring at his face, that didn’t look as though it was genuine sadness “oh how things wound be different if he was still with us, I do hold some internal regret for what happened to my brother, perhaps if I were here I could have helped him. I’m still unsure how that vampire was able to over power David, let’s be honest even Alpha Colten wouldn’t be able to survive a vampires bite and it’s clear to everyone, that my brother was ten times stronger than Colten” he chuckles which does make me pull a confused face, that’s an odd thing to say when you’re supposed to be welcoming your lost nephew home.

“Perhaps he was assisted by a witch of some kind, but of course we may never know for sure. But I hope you all we join me in welcoming Alpha Colten home!” He smiles raising his glass up in the air while looking over at Colten, now that smile definitely was not genuine.

Everyone raises their glasses to Alpha Colten who smiles, but soon takes a look at the table. Maybe Dylan commenting on his father has upset him, he shakes his head annoyed before looking back up. I would walk over to check if he was okay, but I think that would be highly inappropriate. Yes he saved my life but he is still the Alpha, we don’t have that kind of relationship. But maybe Harvey will see his change in mood and help him instead.

I’m suddenly broke from my thoughts when somebody gets into my personal bubble, I look up to see Cooper smiling down at me. His hands soon move and start to run down my body, I freeze on the spot for a few seconds my brain not computing what he was actively doing. I look around to see if anyone would help me, but Harvey was head of security so wasn’t present at the dinner. As for Alpha Colten, he had more things to worry about and shouldn’t have to run at my beck and call whenever I need help.

I decide I should try and deal with this alone, I move to the side slightly hoping that would cause Cooper to snap out of whatever was going around his head right now. But he just followed and started to get even closer, I once again try to move but that still wasn’t enough for him to fully leave me.

I turn to the side slightly where I spot Alpha Colten striding over to us. He soon appears beside me where he aggressively shoves Cooper out of the way, he nearly falls down to the ground in the process.

“You are not to lay your hands on Eliana” He informs a rather irritated Cooper, he fixes his shirt while I hide behind Colten slightly.

“You walk around here like you own the place, but you won't be our future Alpha, I will. Look at the eyes of all these people, you are nothing but a traitor” Cooper spits back at Colten who stood there with a laugh, he didn’t seem like he was even the tiniest bit insulted by what Cooper just said to him.

"I’m more than confident our future Alpha won't be you, let’s be honest you're only interested in fucking girls. If vampires take your brain and drop it on the ground, they won't be able to find it. It's almost nil because it's so little." Colten replies laughing at Cooper’s shocked face staring back at him.
