With hesitant steps and a kitchen knife in hand, Claire makes her way to the storeroom where the noise came from. The lights in the tiny room were off as usual yet the soft wind hitting her nose tells her that she had forgotten to shut the window. As she walks over to the window, the door shuts close behind her, making her yelp and turn around. She isn't alone. Before she could think of her next move, the brunette is pinned to the wall behind her by a firm grip on her neck.
She couldn't see the face of her attacker but his strong scent of rain mixed with the metallic smell of his blood hits her nostrils. Claire could tell the Rogue is smirking with his face so close to hers and as his grip tightens on her throat, her air supply gets cut short. Her lips quiver only to say one word, "..Mate..."

My eyes lightly widen and I cover the speaker with my hand before disconnecting the call. My heart beat loud in my chest like a jackhammer and I look up at the ceiling, fearing if Alex heard it with his heightened hearing. As no raged rogue comes running down the stairs, I let out a sigh of relief, trying to calm my heartbeat and breathing.


Once the adrenaline dies down, I look at the black screen before an electric current shoots through me, making me panic again as realization dawns upon me. I cut the Alpha's call!!


I quickly turn the device on and open texts.


Me : Forgive me for disconnecting the call...


Julian : Oh no no, it's okay. I guess I should have been more considerate... Maybe a sudden call from me was...not expected at this hour of the day?


I softly smile reading his reply. It was obvious he was trying hard to not make it awkward so I let it go.
