Following a miserable, wretched life and a tragic, untimely death, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated as a baby in a different world to the one he was in before. In this world, there are people with special powers, known as Alters.

However, Alters are a minority in this world, and are discriminated against severely. Initially believe that he doesn't possess any powers, the protagonist soon realizes that he has inherited an ancient power, a power that only one other being has previously possessed in this world.

Black Blood, the power that had originated in the Progenitor of Alters, the very first human to develop powers in this world, and from whom all existing Alters are descended from. 

Determined to avoid going through the strife and hardship of his previous life, the protagonist decides to keep his powers hidden and strive to live a peaceful life in this new world. 

But it doesn't last long, his peaceful life is shattered and he gets thrust into the cruel reality of this world, a world wracked with prejudice and conflict. And it soon becomes apparent to him, that any peace he had hoped to find in this world, he would have to fight for... 

What lies in wait for him in this new world? Will he find peace in this world, or is he destined for something darker? What's the secret behind the power of his Black Blood? There's only one way to find out...

"So, uh...what did you want to talk about?" I inquired, as an awkward silence set in.

"It's about today, of course...honestly, when you transformed, I was really disappointed in you," She remarked, averting her gaze.

"Yeah, and...? Like I already said, if I hadn't done that, all three of those babies would probably have died. If I'd transformed sooner, all three might still be alive, that's my only regret," I replied with a shrug.

"That's not the point...don't act like you wouldn't have done that even if you hadn't realized that that guy was already dead," She frowned in response.

Oh, she's onto me. Viola probably knows too, since she can hear my thoughts...I was glad and relieved that she kept quiet about it. But this kinda negates that relief.

"Maybe so. But it doesn't change the fact that the outcome would've been a lot worse if I hadn't transformed," I defended myself firmly.
