Following a miserable, wretched life and a tragic, untimely death, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated as a baby in a different world to the one he was in before. In this world, there are people with special powers, known as Alters.

However, Alters are a minority in this world, and are discriminated against severely. Initially believe that he doesn't possess any powers, the protagonist soon realizes that he has inherited an ancient power, a power that only one other being has previously possessed in this world.

Black Blood, the power that had originated in the Progenitor of Alters, the very first human to develop powers in this world, and from whom all existing Alters are descended from. 

Determined to avoid going through the strife and hardship of his previous life, the protagonist decides to keep his powers hidden and strive to live a peaceful life in this new world. 

But it doesn't last long, his peaceful life is shattered and he gets thrust into the cruel reality of this world, a world wracked with prejudice and conflict. And it soon becomes apparent to him, that any peace he had hoped to find in this world, he would have to fight for... 

What lies in wait for him in this new world? Will he find peace in this world, or is he destined for something darker? What's the secret behind the power of his Black Blood? There's only one way to find out...

"Ugh, you guys really don't know when to give up, do you?" I sighed in exasperation.

"You're quite stubborn yourself...come on, think about it logically. You've done some great work solo for the last three years, so just imagine how much more you could do with our manpower and resources," Pointed out Kesix, trying to convince me.

"For the love of God, just take no for an answer already," I groaned wearily.

"Yeah, at this point, I wish I could...but our leader isn't giving up on recruiting you."

I've already made up my mind about this, I have no intention of joining them. If I do, there's a possibility that I'll end up getting close to someone...and inevitably, that person will end up dead before much longer.

I'm four for four in that regard, and I don't plan on increasing that number.
