Following a miserable, wretched life and a tragic, untimely death, the protagonist finds himself reincarnated as a baby in a different world to the one he was in before. In this world, there are people with special powers, known as Alters.

However, Alters are a minority in this world, and are discriminated against severely. Initially believe that he doesn't possess any powers, the protagonist soon realizes that he has inherited an ancient power, a power that only one other being has previously possessed in this world.

Black Blood, the power that had originated in the Progenitor of Alters, the very first human to develop powers in this world, and from whom all existing Alters are descended from. 

Determined to avoid going through the strife and hardship of his previous life, the protagonist decides to keep his powers hidden and strive to live a peaceful life in this new world. 

But it doesn't last long, his peaceful life is shattered and he gets thrust into the cruel reality of this world, a world wracked with prejudice and conflict. And it soon becomes apparent to him, that any peace he had hoped to find in this world, he would have to fight for...

"Okay, here's the plan...we'll get that bastard's attention, and while he's distracted, you sneak around and get the drop on him, kill him before he realizes what's going on. That okay with you, Ario?" Inquired Theo, as we peered out from behind a wall.

"Sure, I can do that," I nodded in response.

It's been about two months since I joined Amity, and I was currently out on a mission, only my fourth one since joining the organization.

I'd been sent out with Theo and Kesix on this mission, a crazed lunatic had gone on a shooting spree in a neighborhood where a lot of Alters live, he'd been cornered by a squad of policemen and had taken a young Alter girl hostage to keep the cops at bay.

As Theo and Kesix stepped out into the open, I manifested my wings and spread them out, swiftly and silently taking off into the air, flying up into the dark night sky as I formed a layer of my Black Blood over my hair to make myself harder to spot.
